BANKSY in Dover, Brexit, by lee3 on May 7, 2017 17:55:54 GMT 1, banksy sitting on the fence statement... Would be nice if Banksy stated if he was anti or pro Brexit. Perhaps the sarcasm is lost on me as barely through a cup of coffee but his body of work is clear which side he is on. His second print alone (BME) clarified that position long ago.

BANKSY in Dover, Brexit, by milo99 on May 7, 2017 17:56:00 GMT 1, I know i will get some hate with my comment but: I think this looks like a Penny piece, and I believe Penny did a piece on this subject that looks more original than this. Also numerous artists did renditions of this subject, most of them where not welcome. Personally, id rather have the pure evil version of Brexit on my wall than this if it was ever a print... of course if it had a banksy signature id take it. But its so late and unoriginal. anyone could have come up with this in a second, i just expected more from the artist you all adore here.
What does pennys look like?

BANKSY in Dover, Brexit, by Sturban Has Saggy Tits on May 7, 2017 18:09:23 GMT 1, I like it, big, bold and great placement. A few months ago would have been better, but hey, he's a busy man! I take it this must have been hidden behind scaffolding to pull this off.

BANKSY in Dover, Brexit, by Winter on May 7, 2017 18:12:49 GMT 1, Took me a search to find this thread. I always felt the 'Urban Art' section the primary place for this kind of news. Same applies to Walled Off Hotel. Not sure if anyone agrees but this forum is getting trickier to navigate and needs to be simplified.

I do not own artwork by Penny yet.

Placement is everything!

Agree nice piece, but late yes and I think we are use to something which was more cleverer with more of a wow factor than this..

BANKSY in Dover, Brexit, by HRE on May 7, 2017 19:04:51 GMT 1, The attention to detail on this this is very good indeed. The stars are all alined making the near perfect circle. This must have had scaffolding and took some time to do. I look forward to seeing some more detailed images of the man and if any images crop up of the hoarding that had hidden it.

Yeah sure ! A piece that big can't be done in a fast and discreet way.. let's see.
Anyway, subject, placement and quality are great, he's still showing who's the best.

Oh yeah seen them before, preferred the placement of the banksy being in dover near the terminal. Like them both though, did penny even do a street piece of that?

BANKSY in Dover, Brexit, by sleazus1slord on May 7, 2017 20:47:59 GMT 1, Awesome piece, huge scale and in great detail. Must have been a team of a least two or three to manage the large stencils, and a special lift platform. Scaffolding or a scissor lift wouldn't cut it for that height and width.
Astonished at the criticism of the piece, and it's relevance in regard to timing. UK doesn't even officially leave the EU until 3/29/2019.
There would have been no street pieces to offer commentary on any world issues had it not been for banksy. This entire forum probably wouldn't exist. The other artist's who were mentioned styles are completely derivative of the one B originated, so literally cannot be accused of copying them ever. He fathered this sub-genre, and he's still light years ahead in terms of skill and vision.
Accuse your Dad of copying something you did. He'll be like "bitch, I made you"

Saw a post on Instagram from someone saying they went past when the scaffold was being taken down in the early hours. Great how they've used scaffold on a number of pieces over the years and got away undetected!

BANKSY in Dover, Brexit, by Strange Al on May 7, 2017 21:58:10 GMT 1, Bit late to the party, but then better late than never.
As Winter has said, the subtlety of this piece lies in the cracks.
And, something of a Hobson's choice for the 62% Brexit voting Dover residents. Paint over the town's Banksy or stare at a 20ft high reminder of the EU every day from now on.

He'll be like "bitch, I made you" Look, Banksy is without a doubt my favorite living artist and will arguably be remembered as one of the worlds most influential artists, but are you really "astonished" by the negligible level of what I would hardly even call "criticism" on this thread? A few people mentioning the theme here has been attempted in various ways? It takes nothing away from the great new B piece and this thread has remained overwhelmingly positive from what I've read. No need to be overly dramatic about it all. Separately, I can't tell if you were being serious with your statement "There would have been no street pieces to offer commentary on any world issues had it not been for banksy"...
