Banksy Golf Sale Print, by tomhills1 on Apr 5, 2007 19:43:03 GMT 1, Oh now you're just gloating! I've been after a GR for a few months now, elusive little b*ggers!!
sorry. my advice is be patient and forget about money. as an image it is class, as a print it's top notch. as a purchase it's corruptable
oh, and they seem to come along in waves. one sells then a load of people decide they want to cash in, so if the first one you see goes don't panic. that said, who knows any signed prints true value these days? i for one don't have a clue anymore.
the last 2 grins went for ยฃ3k and ยฃ3.1k. you'll do very well to get them for less than that IMO.

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by finsburyparkranger on Apr 6, 2007 9:48:28 GMT 1, Wow. I didn't look at golf sale like that at all.
I see golf sale as being interested in how the future Tienanmen square struggles will not be caused by communists but by the new faceless cooperate monolith of global capital. For me it represents a social comment regarding neo consumerism. The first recognition of a sinister move in the UK where humans are literally becoming walking billboards.
However also refreshingly optimistic as it reminds us that whilst global capital, even with all its economic and military might, can try to mold us, we always have a choice to stand up and define our humanity ourselves.
But everyone to there own. Thats what i like about Banksy, he doesn't define his art. Thats up to us.

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by hungrig on Apr 6, 2007 17:57:08 GMT 1, One can analyse, re-analyse, over-analyse Banksy's work and find various deeper meanings on many different levels until the cows come home.
The beauty of many Banksy images is that people can read into them whatever they wish, a bit like a horoscope. No doubt, this is one of the reasons Banksy seldom explains his images; they are far more effective when left to the imagination and interpretation of each viewer.
I suspect Banksy himself has put much less thought into his work than many of his fans. Socio-political commentary on consumerism, neo-consumerism (is this different to consumerism?), capitalism in the face of communist brutality, the faceless corporate monolith of global capital? All interesting and valid interpretations, and all worthy of debate.
I personally view 'Golf Sale' as Banksy simply using an iconic image and subverting it to create something new and funny, in a similar manner to what he did with 'I Fought The Law'. In short, I see it as Banksy doing what he does best. Just taking the piss.

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by Coach on Jun 30, 2007 14:09:54 GMT 1, Hello all. New to this site. There is clearly a huge wealth of knowledge here. Hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions about one of my prints. I own a golf sale. I keep an eye on ebay. I have seen an unsigned one come up in the last few months, and it had a red banksy tag on the bottom left corner. Mine, which is signed, does not. Is the tag only on unsigned ones, or should mine have it? Also, like a lot of relatively early prints, mine is one of 750. Does anyone know how many were signed? Was it the first 150 like a lot of early prints? I would be very greatful if anyone could shed any light. It's a great print, and much loved! Cheers

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by Coach on Jul 1, 2007 22:20:39 GMT 1, thanks johnas. i had looked at the info you refer to, but was confused by the question mark after the figures given for number of signed prints. number of unsigned is 151-750, but do you know why there is the question mark there re signed prints? it doesn't appear re other prints. thought it might mean that there is some uncertainty re how many were signed.
print does look amazing framed. having left school before computers, i'm not v IT literate. have never even emailed a photo. but when i have some time spare to work out how to do it, i will post pics of it and other prints in my collection.
thanks

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by lordgilbert on Jul 17, 2007 12:44:44 GMT 1, Hi, I have a limited edition (300/750) Golf Sale print with Red BANSKY stamp. It is in a really ornate wooden frame. I haven't seen one on Ebay for ages - what do you reckon it could fetch these days. Is ebay the best place to sell it?

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by lordgilbert on Jul 17, 2007 14:22:00 GMT 1, Provenance is difficult - I bought it way back in 2003 for just ยฃ50 before the Banksy explosion. I lived in Bristol and loved the stuff I saw out and about. This was before he moved to Shoreditch and the prices went through the roof. At the time actually the frame was more expensive than the picture. I got it professionally done with aguilt frame, non-reflecting glass and a wide mount which cost me ยฃ150. I would like to get about ยฃ2k for it but that might be reaching.

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by snorky on Jul 17, 2007 14:52:10 GMT 1, The last one ( I may be corrected here ) on Ebay went for just over a grand - with POW Prov IIRC - Im not sure ow much the framing adds to the value im afraid - to some it means the pic is ready to hang, to others it clouds the actual condition of the print - a frame isnt likely to be a deal clincher , but could be a reason for less interest than expected I think.
Most buyers wouild probabaly want to see the print on the flesh beofre handing over the thick end of a grand - I certainly would.
Hoy it on Ebay for ยฃ2K or offers - you never know !
Impulse purchase and all that

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by tommcjay on Jul 17, 2007 16:11:38 GMT 1, its actually one of the most underated pieces by Banksy I would say. I've got one and I love it , but I actually wouldn't bother selling it at the moment - hold on. It will be come trendy on here at some point and everyone will want one, hence the price will go up (Micallef prices being an example!)

I've got a signed gold sale. No sodding idea how much the thing is worth now. No one's parted with one for ages on the bay. There were three of four six months ago but nothing since. It really does reinforce my theory that laz is buying them all back up and burning them. Come on, someone release one into the wild and lets see how far it will run. I need to know how guilty i should feel about my monstrous debt.

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by dotdot on Jul 17, 2007 16:57:17 GMT 1, I bought one a few months ago. went and picked it up - yes,of course, it's worth seeing prints before handing over the money.
One of Mr Bs finest.
I was after a signed - .. but they went through the roof so ..gave them a miss.
They don't seem to come up that often.
Am sure if you wish to sell you would get a fair few notes for it.

Its made 7.5k already with days to go. Could it bust the 10k barrier? If so it would be the first creased banksy to do that.

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by finsburyparkranger on Jul 22, 2007 12:10:56 GMT 1, No they were only 150 signed golf sales. That was a bit of a pow f**k up in the early days. Some were made out to be out of 150 as it should have been, some were made out be out of 750 which represents the total golf sales (signed and unsigned). Mine says out of 150 .
You got to remember they were cheap as chips back in the day ยฃ45 or something. Just pricey posters for students with a bit of splash. No one cared how many existed or if they were signed back then.

290145592280
First they list it as creased for 7.5k and fail to sell it. Then relist as ยฃ5'500 and don't mention the crease, then fail to sell it. Then they've stuck it up again with no mention of a crease again.
