So WSM is a run down British seaside town which hasn't got much going for it. It is commonly known amongst Bristolians as Weston Super Mud. You can't safely swim there, as it very strongly tidal and if you walk out to far when the tide is out, you get stuck in the sludge/mud/sand (whatever the hell it is). For kids there isn't alot going on, apart from Slot machines and the pier, which I think? has reopend after burning down (Someone may want to correct me).
The Topicana shut down years ago and has just sat there, a potential gold mine. No one wants to invest. It was an open air pool with slides and lots of other stuff going on.
You'll get some decent fish and chips, but sadly thats about it.
Lurkerstd said you have to go there on a wet weekend in November to understand and I get where he is coming from.
Someone else said that Banksy's meaning is along the lines of old people just going there and are waiting to die. This is spot on, also the whole place does just need to be torn up and this is Banksys way of saying that.
Having said all that it still is a place that us Bristolians visit every now and again, simply because its so close. Banksy must have visited a few times to want to do a print about it.
The person looking the other way to the oncoming saw, to me is saying that even if something interesting did happen, you would probably miss it, as your too busy doing nothing.

If anyone wants to visit a cracking Beach, get over to Barafundle in Wales. Best British beach I know of.

Great thread, I appreciate when gems like this appear. I'm trying to make the big island of hawaii my own weston super mud though want to get there full time before i'm a senior citizen. I'll have to remember to get a bench now too. Good luck JP and I suspect curious is correct above with his estimate as I recall seeing an AP of this with green for around 15k sterling not all that long ago.

Slammer, do lifeguards have to go out in the mud and retrieve people of all ages on a weekly basis as the tide is coming in or do signs prevent people from going out that far?

Adam.. Interesting post. I always had my thoughts about WSM and saw it as "g-d's waiting room" but I never thought that the brown was the sea/mud. I'm looking at it slightly differently now!

Thought the canvas is spot on as the brown as the brown for the estuary sands is spot on. He has obviously changed to green for the print to make a little more attractive. Also like the fact that rouge blade is a lot closer on the canvas.

First time I have seen that.
