Banksy Photo Prints by James Pfaff, by Rouen Cathedral on Aug 14, 2018 12:13:55 GMT 1, Nope... its all about elasticity of supply and demand ...ย .dappy ย Yep, 490 remaining Monkey Mask Tag, 493 of Happy Chopper, 492 of pixelated photo, 99 of Painting Canvas 1 and none sold of canvas 2 (both edition of 100).ย 5 pages in and so far ony 26 sold from all combined editions of 1700 + AP's.ย The demand is obvious.ย
ยฃ347,054.91 for the editions of 500 + 3 APs, + another ยฃ72.097.94 for the 2 new editions of 100 + 3 AP's = ยฃ419,152.85.ย The supply is obvious.
If these were priced at around the ยฃ50 per print - then the demand for the supply would have been even more significantly obvious.
Interesting. If they were between 50-100 I think they'd be going pretty quickly and people may buy multiples of each. Interesting to think about how much money the artist could have in sales if they were at lower amount.
I'd be very tempted of they were in that price range.

With respect itโs not interesting in the slightest. My comment was an attempt at humour. Clearly waisted. ๐

I find cookie monsters comment very interesting. I wasn't referring to your post, respectfully.
Priced at half a million for all of them there seems to have been about a couple thousand in sales. If priced in half there may be tens of thousands in sales.
How art gets priced is very interesting and the result amount of sales.

Earlier in the thread it was suggested that the photographer was cashing in. Are we now saying that he isn't?

I think cashing in and trying to cash in are to different things right?
My thought is that the original price point would suggest trying to cash in. The actual sales number would say it's not working.
Ironically a lower price point would suggest not trying to cash in yet could result in more sales equaling cashing in .
You make a good point though and why I find the economics of it quite interesting.

Good point. The 'element of integrity' concept is interesting and complicated.
I'd argue a cheaper price doesn't lessen the photos integrity but I guess at some point it might. The ikd how art gets priced debate which is very very complicated. These works are proving to be a good example of that.

Just try to add 100 (of the 100 editions) to the cart and a window pops up which shows how many pieces are still available. Same with the editions of 500 but of course you have to add 500 to the cart.
At the moment it says:
Canvas Session: 480 left Monkey Mask Session (Tag): 483 left Monkey Mask Session (Happy Chopper) 487 left Painting The Canvas (1): 95 left Painting The Canvas (2): 97 left

It doesnโt matter how many are sold if you like what youโve bought. Iโm sure weโve all bought something that hasnโt sold out. If you genuinely liked it in the first place it shouldnโt matter a fuck surely?.. I thought these were expensive so I passed but at the same time Iโve paid over ยฃ400 for a petrol can Poster which was what a fiver originally? So clearly Iโm not one to judge. If you like it then buy and if you donโt then donโt.

Pretty simple really. I'm interested by what they actually are as well as the economics of it. Find these as an interesting 'art' piece.
Between cookies and tobis post it appears they have been updated and changed. Was wondering if you had information as based on your post it would seem like he wasn't updating them.

Cool, You really are a sealioning.
Sealioning (also spelled sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment which consists of pursuing people with persistent requests for evidence or repeated questions.

Banksy Photo Prints by James Pfaff, by lha on Aug 14, 2018 23:17:42 GMT 1, It really is time for people to stop engaging these characters That's long overdueโฆโฆ
So, let's stop engaging on this thread at least. It'll make for better more constructive discussion around the pieces. I find it interesting that people pay strong money for unofficial, not connected in any way, records (record covers essentially) Also the furore around the angel print from Bristol Museum that was pulled. People were paying more for those on the secondary than some of these recent photos. The angel print was an unnoficial cheap ยฃ5 print of a photo. Go figure! Some of James Pfaff's photos are iconic images - portraits of Banksy from his own book and a portrait of Banksy at The National Portrait Gallery plus other unreleased images. If they were gone tomorrow people would be lamenting the loss. I thouroughly enjoy the set, great pieces in the flesh, delighted they've been made available. For me, an important part of the story and history. If they had sold out and could be flipped people would be all over it. In many ways edition size could be a good thing - people are buying because they love the images and know the placing of these in the big picture. Refreshing for this place no? Where financial value and potential gain, not art, seems to be the new god...

Banksy Photo Prints by James Pfaff, by mose on Aug 16, 2018 14:45:37 GMT 1, Man, I don't know or care who Burial is, but anyone who has made 'Archangel' and the Rival Dealer EP is deserving of public monuments.
Rival Dealer was the single best work of art, in any medium, that I experienced in 2013.
