Sorry if this has been mentioned!
+ there's the other 3 pixel-face self portraits from the Banksy vs Bristol Museum show.

Everlast was acquired by Brands Holdings a subsidiary of Sports Direct in 2007. So this would have been the pre Sports Direct days. I always confuse Everlast with the Lonsdale brand who I think might have been acquired by Sports Direct also.

Has the style of their clothing changed since Sports Direct took Lonsdale over do you know?

Banksy Photo Prints by James Pfaff, by Howard Johnson on Oct 19, 2018 23:49:01 GMT 1, Has anyone received their photos? If so, could you post a pic? I'd love to see what these look like in person. Come on, the new larger size is tempting me! The initial size was far to small. I would hesitate paying that much for a drugstore style photograph even if it was 1/1. The new size and edition are slightly better even though I think the photographer should have increased the size or lowered the edition a bit more to justify the price. What intrigues me is that these are c-prints (aka classically developed photographs). They makefor wonderful editions, especially at a larger size (my favorite piece in my collection is a 16"x 24" c-print).
Lets be clear, I dont think these will be valuable down the line. Its not a "banksy," nor is it official ephemera like the cans poster or tesco bomb. However, the history with the portrait gallery, and that funny mask (which makes me nostalgic for "exit") have piqued my interest. I'm not a buyer yet, but maybe if I'm flush down the line I'll snag a bigger one.

Banksy Photo Prints by James Pfaff, by wappinghigh on Oct 20, 2018 1:18:41 GMT 1, I really like these photo's. Yep...particularly the larger ones as well...
I've just spent an hour reading the entire thread and with respect to all I think what the "value" is has been missed by some...
I would argue they are valuable because they capture a street artist doing their "thing".... doing "their art"...
I have to admit I am a touch reluctant to pay 10,000's of pounds for an original banksy print when it's not actually street art....(by that I mean out on a concrete wall all exposed and vunerable ..making a statement... It's "a print"...like any other type of conventional modern art...
I value what Banksy is doing because it's on the street... it's out there...raw.... for everyone to see... If these photo's picture him doing just that....? Well I think in the long run that has value.... When he's gone and the movement loses traction (god forbid)... (but interest will likely wax and wane).... I think images like this perhaps mean more than studio prints.... because they capture the rawness and enthusiasm for what he is...... A GREAT street artist and what he stands for and the very "movement" itself..
On that note which of the images capture that feeling of street art best do you think? The monkies? and the pixelated? maybe more than the images of him doing the studio canvas work? I don't know. Darn it all... I also like the image of him doing the studio canvas (cause I "get" that canvas)...I wish I could afford to buy ALL the larger prints...
Love em.

Absolutely. I still use Lonsdale Vintage range for the gym as the sparring and bag gloves are really comfortable. The clothing just doesnโt have the same look and feel anymore though. Gone very cheap and nasty.

Banksy Photo Prints by James Pfaff, by Arty Farty 15 on Oct 20, 2018 8:03:10 GMT 1, This isnโt urban art, they are just photos. This is where the line gets blurred for some people and this forum gets a bit weird, when grown men start framing pictures of another man they have never met.
Use the space to put up pictures of family and friends instead for crying out loud!

It could be argued these photos are not urban art in themselves...
Then again if you are a "street artist" designing prints for wall hangings isn't really "street art" is it? Particularly if it is similar images to your street art? With the whole nature of street art being it's very transience?...So isn't a photo of a street artist "doing their thing" ie capturing the "moment" of the street art.... just as a legit thing to own as a "copy" of the street art image on a print?
I don't know...

With respect, I donโt agree, for these reasons. First, this used to be the Banksy Forum. As such it not surprising that there are still some fans of Banksy here. Second, these are portraits by a well known and respected photographer, and as such have artistic merit worthy of discussion and sharing. Third, whilst the main focus of this forum is urban art, discussion of other genres has always taken place, and the forum is richer for it, in my opinion.
