Backdoor Banksy Prints, by tonysantos2001 on Mar 14, 2010 23:05:01 GMT 1, I'll be honest i just like the idea of the print looking almost exactly the same as the genuine ones As opposed to the canvases you know?
Hmm. How much do backdoor prints normally cost anyways? This is all new to me so just interested in hearing peoples opinions.
Thanks again guys x

I don't think there's as straight an answer as you'd like to hear. It depends on the buyer, as there's no way of knowing whether your "backdoor print" did originally come from POW or if it's a total knock-off, as you won't get provenance or confirmation from them either way. Personally, I'd say that if it looks EXACTLY the same as the editioned prints and you have reason to trust the seller or believe they're a friend of people who used to work at POW, then maybe ยฃ200 isn't a bad deal at all, but I'd not pay that for a print I knew was not gonna be certified by POW/PCO. I'd prefer to save up a bit longer and grab an editioned, unsigned print, with full prov'.
Some alleged back door prints have recently been sold for a lot more than this on Ebay, so I guess there are people out there who figure they're worth it, if that's what you're asking. However there shouldn't in theory be THAT many back door prints out there and one has to question where a lot of them came from. Imo, a good number may well be complete fakes and as such, even more worthless than a "genuine" prints. Again, I'd prefer an unsigned editioned print with prov' everytime, but I guess it's horses for courses, as some people do snap these up on Ebay at a premium. Besides if it's an older image, even unsigned are very expensive these days, so I guess I can sort of see the appeal, but it still wouldn't change my own view.

Backdoor Banksy Prints, by kennas on Mar 15, 2010 11:48:46 GMT 1, My advice would be perhaps save up a few pennies and buy a silver flag, toxic mary, unsigned morons or unsigned trollies. All should be possible in the ยฃ500-ยฃ600 range, and all genuine!

Backdoor Banksy Prints, by kaisersosay on Jul 29, 2011 9:42:58 GMT 1, Hi as it says in the title, my brother inlaw would like to buy some banksy backdoor prints, he has just bought a new place and would like to hang a few on the wall.
He loves Banksy but with five kids to feed this is his only option to get some on the wall.
Please pm me with what you have got and prices please. I am in Holborn, Central London, cash waiting.
Many thanks
K.

Backdoor Banksy Prints, by Rolex on Aug 30, 2011 19:41:41 GMT 1, Hi all Just wondered what people's opinion was on the two backdoor banksy prints on eBay 1= nola green 2 = sheet of tenners. Both ยฃ1500 or offers. Ps there not mine, but just wondered what sort of value they'd have if any. Sorry I'm not clever enough to do a link. (maybe someone else can)

Backdoor Banksy Prints, by ABC on Aug 30, 2011 19:49:35 GMT 1, They are what they say on the tin, Back door prints. No worth in the art market (official auction, gallery houses etc etc as they have no COA and are unofficial) That said there are a few backdoor prints that I'd still have on the wall. The problem is the price - ยฃ1500, when they have nothing more than his story about Birmingham (the back door printers)

Backdoor Banksy Prints, by mouser on Aug 30, 2011 20:00:09 GMT 1, I'd be very doubtful about these "backdoor" prints as both were printed in-house at POW rather than the older birmingham prints. The older ones were at least plausible in the possibility of coming from the brume source, but the DFT sheets were carefully handled due to the nature of being altered photocopied banknotes. The Nola release is much newer and the whole "backdoor issue" was already a massive pain in the bum for POW, seems strange that " a very desirable green Nola" should appear as a backdoor rather than an A/P, again I'd suspect that they'd be very carefully handled due to the placement of the pieces and the way the coloured Nola's were sold / distributed. High prices asked for something with all the provenance of the recent copy prints from west country prints, but backed with contradictory info regarding the brume connection. Wouldn't touch them to begin with, only made more dodgy with the attempt to marry older backdoor info to newer prints.

Backdoor Banksy Prints, by Deleted on Aug 30, 2011 20:04:41 GMT 1, As ABC says.
Whatever you pay you'll struggle to get your money back by selling it at a later date. Buy something from the West Country Prince, as this is on a par with these.
If you have the sort of money this guy is asking get something genuine.
A fool and his money are easily parted.

on the one hand 'worth what someone is prepared to pay'. pay for what exactly ? something which has no clear source ... (this hand has one finger..)
on the other hand... spend your hard earned on artwork.. for which you have done your research. (this one has a thumb)
gsoh required.. as ever..

Exactly. A direct quote from him in an email to me from several years back re his back door prints:-
Yeah I wish I had Happy Choppers to!! The horrid thing is I had them all.. I printed them all for banksy between 02 and 04 and I had extras and artist proofs of them all and I gave alot of them away.. Somone once said to me "Keep hold of them he's gonna be big and they will be worth a bit in the future" Next time I get told that I'm gonna belive them!!! Oh well it's the old "what if".. "What if" could drive me insaine.. Live and learn!! nest..
