Backdoor Banksy Prints, by Rolex on Aug 31, 2011 13:48:50 GMT 1, I thought long & hard over these two prints as purely wall decoration, offered £250 each, both offers rejected & now green nola has been sold or withdrawn. Amazing . How long will it be before di faced tenners is sold. I noticed both prints had a lot of bids on them.

And stamped but these were gift prints, Mouser is right in what he says about the handlng/distribution , it took ages to get mine Do you have them all framed in a tryptych Mo? backdoor prints were originally prints removed and sold from the Birmingham printers who printed the early banksy prints, they made a few extra and sold em out the "back door". POW also provided some for publicity to shops, bars etc.... generally prints that were printed at the same time as the recognised run but were surplus and never ment to be sold on. Some of the backdoors such as the stretch pulp fictions, green westons and gold LITTa etc were also released as A/Ps through Laz. The backdoor prints were never ment to be sold on so have no provenance or authentication other than word of mouth.
Times and demand changed, some folk placed a certain "value" on backdoor prints, but without any means of authentication they could just as easily have been printed by West country prints last week as in 2003.... no way to know or tell.

thanks blackheart, but i do tend to agree with curious george, the cyw's do go better because of the background colour.
the nola's i do swap around from time to time but they end up in the spare room against the wall, not enough wall space.....

Boatyb - One of Banksy's legit printers from Birmingham ended up with a few extra prints, possibly having kept the screens after the runs etc etc. The prints then came into the market with no number runs or signature, there were some interesting colour variations too, thats more or less the story.
