Any hints, tips or advice on how to identify a geuine BDP isoaflip?
(bearing in mind, if someone had an original Banksy print to compare it to, they probably wouldnt be buying a BDP in the first place)

but how does a buyer know they are buying a genuine backdoor print rather than a recently created copy? Catch 22, if you are able to compare them to a genuine print then you probably wouldnt be buying one in the first place.
The recent coppies claim to be printed on very similar stock to the originals etc
Genuine backdoor prints probably will carry a certain price as isoaflip says, but actually identifying a genuine one will be the tricky bit.

if they're actual authentic banksys it seems like pure braggadocio and if it's fakes (which however you frame it all backdoor prints are) it's just l ikea wall covering.
Anyway from an old head view this thread makes incredibly sad reading.

I've seen a few unumbered but signed prints in the flesh and they are no different from the numbered run. Some have doodles with his signature etc on them. Banksy gave out a lot as gifts but they were tests and extras so it would be hard to get COA for these. POW always printed additional prints ontop of the official numbered amount so they could replace prints that were damaged in the post if needed. Normally a print house would destroy returned damaged prints and reissue another with the same number if required.

I don't know how they get away with stating authentic if the print can not be authenticated in any way? quite a lot of back doorers have been popping up in the last few months and I am sure will continue to do so for the next decade or so.. |

The difference between that and the WCP repro's is paper, colour reproduction, screen size in some cases and most importantly, the fact that you know the backdoor is from the same run as the rest of the numbered prints and its not some cheap shite knocked up by some bloke to make a few quid from someone else's talent.
You put a WCP on the wall and you'll always know its not the real thing.

no, you don't, because there is an after market demand that creates a value for those prints.
that same demand trickles down to the genuine but unlicensed prints, albeit at a lower value, because they also have a finite supply. add to that the lack of new prints, the lack of reselling of numbered prints and you start to see the reasoning behind this lower level market place.
there will never be an after market demand for WCP prints, not for genuine collectors anyway.
