Glastonbury Festival, by FЯ on Jun 25, 2017 17:41:12 GMT 1, His appearance was thanks to some excellent work by his strategists. Is your statement based on fact? What is your source? Please can you also name the strategist(s)? Cheers - much appreciated. Did he also invite John (who?) Mcdonnell as well. Wonder how much labour paid to be there talking to thousands of pissed up people. Oh no, thats right he was 'invited' by Billy Bragg. Eavis used up all his invites on diane abbott who could not find the entrance. Also don't get me started on Tom Watson, funny how voters forget these numpties standing behind Corbyn who will likely be running the country while he spends time standing on stages at festivals. That is scary.
looking forward to the corbyn x sheeran rap tonight.
They have all gone a bit John Terry at the moment, popping up randomly to make themselves look like winners. Wheel Corbyn out for v-festival.

using tragedy as well for politics? just saying. I dont support either party before anyone calls me a tory.

All Labour run authorities, all cladding fitted in 2005/06 under a Labour Government. Pre economic crash, pre Cameron, pre austerity. Oh, and one authority is Islington. Their MP for 34 years has been Jeremy Corbyn. Awkward

Glastonbury Festival, by Harveyn on Jun 25, 2017 20:00:50 GMT 1, Its been on my bucket list forever. Every year I watch every bit of footage I can. Every year I tell my wife and kids I am going next year. Every year I fail miserably.
2018 is my year to make this happen. I am a complete novice when it comes to making this happen. Can a few kind souls pm me the best way to get tickets or is it just impossible out side pulling strings.

Glastonbury Festival, by Yeah Yeah Yeah Round2 on Jun 25, 2017 23:21:51 GMT 1, Clearly Glastonbury means different things to different people. I've noticed and welcome the changes since the 80s when I first went, a time when official numbers were tricky to gauge as half the punters simply walked in or jumped the fence. I'm sure people back then were bemoaning the perceived change to what was ostensibly a hippie festival. After my first time, I gave it a good few years before I was tempted back in 95 by a Cure, Stone Roses headline and a host of Britpop (Elastica, Oasis, Supergrass), and triphop acts (Tricky and Portishead). Alas the Stone Roses had to pull out, nevertheless it gave Pulp a chance to shine. That year half the crowd must have bunked in and it was gloriously warm and dry I recall. As for the number of people attending, Glastonbury is clearly a victim of its own success. I seem to remember in 95 Portishead were playing in some small field like the theatre field which was appropriate at the time (Tricky was on the Jazz stage I think) and the whole field was closed and people weren't allowed to enter. In fact, you just could not even get near the field. That was annoying. Fortunately, I hitched a ride on the back of an ambulance as it tried to get through the crowd and thus got into the field and eventually the tent itself due to the good fortune of Evan Dando holding up proceedings before we got to see Portishead, much to the annoyance of everybody around me.
I went in 95, the sun nearly killed me, no where to hide apart the dance tent, which wasn't any better as it was boiling in there. The place was massive back then, so I'm sure it's even bigger now.

Glastonbury Festival, by ed on Jun 25, 2017 23:53:53 GMT 1, So does anyone have any info of banksy at the festival?
There's not been much chatter on that despite some hype...
The print giveaway at Shangri la seemed a really decent thing to of been doing though, some pieces I liked the look of. Be interesting to see how many make it out

Glastonbury Festival, by rockbeer on Jun 26, 2017 5:00:28 GMT 1, I and two fiends picked up a screen print each tonight in the Shangri La art giveaway - one by Pure Evil, signed but not numbered on A3, and two of another, numbered /35 and signed, also on A3, which I'll post details of along with pics of both when I get out of this glorious asylum and back to some semblance of normality.
The whole experience of getting the prints was wonderful. and slghtly twisted in a somewhat Dismaland-esque kind of way. Again I'll describe, if people are interested, when I'm more capable.
Also earlier treated myself to a nice B&W A2 Letterpress Donwood open edition festival print on cheap paper. A tenner and probably never worth any more than that, but I like it.
That one's in a tube - the others are safe in my A3 portfolio locked in a tool store. Hopeful they'll get home safe and sound.
Without doubt picking up the Shangri La prints was the moment of a Glastonbury full of wonderful ones. It might be over-commercial and all of the other accusations people level at it, but I keep coming because I've been coming for 33 years, and because I meet up with friends who I only ever see here, and because I love working here, but mostly because for all its many faults it's still a place where vast numbers of creative people can and do make things and make things happen. I haven't been near a main stage this year, I haven't seen a headline act, I've been busy all the time, I'll be taking two new prints home with me on Tuesday that have meaning and memory attached because of how I came by them - the cacophany is still blasting out into the brightening sky, and I can't stop smiling.

Great stuff rockbeer, summed up perfectly! I can understand why it's a special place for you. I first went in '85 so 32nd year for me this time around! There's been periods in those 32 years where I didn't go and periods I was there every year. The last four years I've been on the Sunday on local tickets. Very fond of the old place! Watched stuff on the smaller stages yesterday and stayed well away from the mellay - spent the evening in Shangri La from when it opened. Was tempted by the prints - saw people waiting for them but we needed to get across the site to be on a 12.30 bus out of there which would have been cutting it rather fine to say the least as the art give away wasn't until 11.30! I hope you have many more happy times on the farm!

Glastonbury Festival, by barryh on Jun 26, 2017 12:13:50 GMT 1, Corbyn was due to appear last year, but that was cancelled due to Brexit that Cameron called... not that facts matter in a right wing dominated society.

Glastonbury Festival, by barryh on Jun 26, 2017 12:16:03 GMT 1, So does anyone have any info of banksy at the festival? There's not been much chatter on that despite some hype... The print giveaway at Shangri la seemed a really decent thing to of been doing though, some pieces I liked the look of. Be interesting to see how many make it out
Banksy was there all week during the build and regularly seen in shangri la and Maseos

Glastonbury Festival, by Deleted on Jun 26, 2017 20:37:58 GMT 1, Did he also invite John (who?) Mcdonnell as well. Wheel Corbyn out for v-festival. news.sky.com/story/labours-john-mcdonnell-grenfell-tower-victims-were-murdered-10926944using tragedy as well for politics? just saying. I dont support either party before anyone calls me a tory. I argue against your statement of using a tragedy for politics. Unfortunately, all decisions which led to the foreseen tragedy were political. So I am sorry, but your comment holds little credence in the grand scheme of things. I think the comment is apt. Labour and Corbyn and Labour party activists have tried to gain politically via their rhetoric regarding the Grenfell fire. The only decisions that led to this fire are the manufacturor of the fridge which caught fire for selling these type of fridges. If that is indeed the reason behind the Grenfell fire. Plus the decision by the council, landlord to allow this flammable cladding to be fitted.

99% sure he was just there on a jolly, after all block 9 built dismaland and a fair chunk of the artists working there this year were affiliated in some way either through events or as help.
