Glastonbury Festival, by barryh on Jul 6, 2017 8:13:13 GMT 1, 99% of the people working there get no kind of contract , plus this would have been a 3rd party selling these jobs..for years litter pickers have been from punters earning a free ticket or money after the festival. Why would eavis all of a sudden be importing 700 staff from Poland ?

I remember the year they tents got swept away, or left under water. Ours survived, though many near us didnโt. We got to the bottom of the hill to find what can best be described as a stream blocking our way to the fun. That was the wettest I saw it. We still had fun, but it was better when it was dry.
The last year I went we went posh and had a tipi. I think we may have known it was our last and wanted to go out in style.

We were some of the unlucky ones. Pitched up early near the fence at the top of the 'river' field, woke up on the Thursday or Friday morning whenever it was thinking this is weird I feel like i'm on a water bed. Fell back asleep. Woke up again to the sound of lots of voices, sounds of rushing water and more waterbed feelings...hmm this is sloshy and why is the edge of the tent pushing up against my body. Open the zip to see crowds of people lining the 'river banks' of the 5 metre wide fast flowing tributary that we are somehow still in the middle of. We both try to grab what we can salvage and drag the tent out of the river before it's completely washed away, lost pretty much everything but still had an amazing festival as always. That year goes down as one of the most surreal that's for sure.

We were some of the unlucky ones. I used to love going with all my mates, i went 6 times be between 2003 & 2009 & used to have the most amazing time, Glastonbury is the craziest & most mind bending party on the planet! The last time I went I decided that I could never had as good a time as the early years & stopped going. My friends still go every year though, weโll apart from next year as none of them managed to get tickets this morning!

Been to most Glastos since mid 80s ... some good, some not great. Massive changes in so many ways, but still the best festival in my book !
...and I did get a ticket this year.
