COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Happy Shopper on Sept 21, 2019 18:31:50 GMT 1, Or is it more rediculous that they'd ask for the signatures in this condition Having watched my parents both die in similar situation, I could never own a piece like this personally Sorry to hear that. This thread reminds me of the heartless nature of the profiteer and that kenny schachter poster.
You posted on Instagram that you were glad she was dead. And made a thread about following soon to be dead artists.
Now you’re getting judgemental?

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by The Rat King on Sept 21, 2019 18:32:23 GMT 1, She’s probably signed enough stickers for several more releases. You’re right!! But.. this is the last documented print she was apart of. IMO this is the last postmortem piece she was apart of. Signed. Was aware she’s signing. Making it a solid piece. To own. Anything else is an estate piece. But I bet they have a ton of stickers. I wonder if they have a few tucked on the sly that are actually signed on the print. I’m interested in buying one more. DM me
Still available at source for gbp 5600 if you are that keen

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by coller on Sept 21, 2019 18:43:14 GMT 1, oh man this thread is awful.
it's cool if the difference (signed on print vs. signed on sticker stuck to back of print) didn't matter to you, but to talk down to someone because the difference matters to them is absolutely ridiculous.
buyers have every right to be upset if they didn't receive the product as described when they purchased. simple as that.
CE employees posting pics of pensato on her death bed to advertise their print edition is a whole other story.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Coach on Sept 21, 2019 18:45:32 GMT 1, yeah, they should have disclosed that it was signed on a sticker. they told everyone the print was signed, and... the print is not signed. that would present issues for me as the sticker will eventually fall off the print. it also changes the nature of the print a bit for me, because i was under the impression that pensato saw the final product and signed it herself, as kind of a mark of approval if that makes sense?
I’ve seen many paintings that are older than a lifetime or two, that still have stickers on the back from galleries, auction houses etc, so I shouldn’t worry on that account.

The prints haven’t been sent have they? A refund has apparently been offered. So no one’s lost out.

just seems like CE are the ones screwing up and buyers are the ones getting blamed in here, which is interesting.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by blerd on Sept 21, 2019 19:14:28 GMT 1, It doesn’t bother me at all that she had to sign stickers to be added after... especially in the circumstances. She obviously wanted her last edition signed and they worked out a way to make it happen. I have a feeling she proofed these prints a long while ago. Maybe even 2016/17, but never got around to signing them. Also, the Heni Hirst editions are all signed on stickers on the back. I’ve not heard any complaints. I think this is exactly what happened. I also believe because of the nature of the charity she moved heaven and earth to get her signature on it. All the bitching and moaning is about money missed/flipping and greed at the expense of her integrity. A new low for the forum.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by nobokov on Sept 21, 2019 21:33:48 GMT 1, Sorry to hear that. This thread reminds me of the heartless nature of the profiteer and that kenny schachter poster. You posted on Instagram that you were glad she was dead. And made a thread about following soon to be dead artists. Now you’re getting judgemental?
I'm not actually glad she died. I didnt know her and don't own anything related to her. I was just translating what my interpretation of the IG post said. He wrote, "one of the best pieces in my collection that I luckily acquired before she passed."
While it's probably a case of something lost in the translation, the post just seemed in poor taste as were all the other posts hyping Pensato ever since her passing.

You really need to have a think before writing things like that then!
People would be hyping this print even if she was alive. That she died is sad, and nothing to do with people liking her art.

I mean whether she is alive or not, the print is pretty terrible looking as was all her "artwork." She had very little interest in her work prior to the last few months so I have a feeling that all the love is false and the hype has been largely due to her absence. Buyers really have had to hype it due to the insane price point.
"GOAT" "A true legend!!!"
Come on...we see it all the time on IG and here with these guys trying to hype and flip, but this time it's a bit much.
My follow-up comment will be on all the Edgar Plans posts, "cannot wait till he croaks!"

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Deleted on Sept 21, 2019 22:58:09 GMT 1, Not that it really matters but her signature on her originals are much nicer. Yes, she is on her last days signing these silly sticker; so I understand. Just pointing something out about the signature on this new print. Also, it should have been mentioned in the beginning but shouldn't really change the value.
I have always wondering about these stickers. If they do fall off what should we do? Is there are correct way of handling that? All those Heni prints someday will have that issue.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Deleted on Sept 21, 2019 23:00:29 GMT 1, Are these really signed by her? I could see her saying "just sign it" to the guy when she was that ill. J and P somewhat look different than hers but I dunno.... JP is pretty easy for anyone to do.
To me the same person signed and numbered these new stickers. The letters J and the P and all the date numbers are very different than on her originals. I have my doubts she even signed these stickers. Again I'm not an expert so I don't know....
Anyone buying this print should ask if they have a photo of her signing these stickers. For that price it would be nice to know she actually signed them.

I find it surprising that in one breath you can make quite a scandalous suggestion, and then immediately follow it up with conceding that neither do you know, nor are you an expert.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Deleted on Sept 21, 2019 23:27:03 GMT 1, I've seen other galleries do this. That is only why i mention it. It's easy to do when an artist passes away.
Why is it so bad to ask for a photo? Most times they have video or photos of the artist signing these things. They showed a photo of her in the hospital with it... So they must have a photo with her signing it. If they do then great!! No worries.
I don't why you wouldn't like absolute proof; if you are paying this much for a print? Look at her signature online. Her originals are on google. Signature on the originals look very different than the signed sticker on this print. That is all I am saying. Takes 2 second on google for anyone to notice this.

This all seems bizarre and distasteful. Clearly this is an authorised edition that she was happy to be released - if the entirety of the edition is signed the same way, surely that's all that matters.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Deleted on Sept 21, 2019 23:38:05 GMT 1, Then why not say its was signed by the estate... that's all im saying. I thought it was somewhat distasteful to put a photo of her in the hospital to sell prints honestly.
I guess it doesn't matter who signs what, as long as someone signs your name. Ok case close. Signatures on items do not matter on this forum.

It is not uncommon for artists to sign either with a signature or with initials. The print appears to have been signed with the later. Hirst, for example, has a short form signature for cheaper larger editions, and a long form signature for others. To suggest that the gallery might have signed the prints without a scrap of evidence is (and here I am tempering my language) inappropriate. I also agree with kernow, that this discussion is rather distasteful, not least that anyone might ask to see a dying lady signing the stickers, rather than accept the gallery’s assurance that they were so signed.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Deleted on Sept 21, 2019 23:56:54 GMT 1, I'm sorry but if you collect anything. No matter what the situation is a signature is really important. From sports to art it makes a difference. Should it.... no but it does. Sorry if that makes you feel uncomfortable.
If anyone, questions this signature later down the road, because they looked at google like i did, and an expert cannot conclude she signed it. It will be a problem. If they have a photo of her signing just one in this style then done deal no issues whatsoever. I haven't seen anything else signed by her like this. If someone can show me another older piece the she did with initials like this.... Then great!!! But if there is any question then you should ask now.
They already didn't mention it was a sticker in the first place. So why shouldn't anyone have more questions about this print. It's a bit of money now for this print. All i'm saying is make sure you know what you're getting. We just found out it's now a sticker on the back.
Look it maybe distasteful but honestly the way this entire set was release has been distasteful. If they were up front about everything in the first place I would have never second guessed anything about this print.
If you like it and have the money go for it. Not trying to stop anyone from buying it. Just showing something I noticed which may or may not be an issue later.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Deleted on Sept 22, 2019 1:19:08 GMT 1, I like the print. I like the artist. I'm sad she passed away. I would not mind owning the print. I just think the signature is strange. That is it. I'm now going outside to beat around a bush.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by blerd on Sept 22, 2019 5:03:56 GMT 1, Incredible thread. Half the people trolling clearly wanted the print and are pissing over it because they didn’t get it. “If I bought I’d be asking will the sticker fall off....did she actually sign them....I prefer her other signatures”. Sad and pathetic. Why does it matter. Thou protest to much. New forum low.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Adam The Collector on Sept 22, 2019 6:26:30 GMT 1, These prints stickers when framed will never fall off. I do not see the issue, I have works with stickers that have remained intact & verso for the last 150+ years. Not to worry
