Prints in Tubes, by Happy Shopper on Dec 17, 2019 11:55:01 GMT 1, Ryman's are OK... at least for UK delivery. Come in 610mm and 760mm x 75mm diameter. Not super sturdy, or very wide, but enough for most prints.

Prints in Tubes, by ap0 on Oct 18, 2020 13:33:54 GMT 1, Hi all, what would you consider is the time limit when keeping a print rolled up in a tube? As in, how long would you think it takes for that print to be unflattenable?

Prints in Tubes, by That Print Guy on Oct 18, 2020 17:46:39 GMT 1, I would be worried that one comes with a child.
Just kidding, you could definitely use two pieces of foam core, make a sandwich and hold it together with binder clips on the cheap. Or check out baroque portfolios if they work size wise for you.

As in, how long would you think it takes for that print to be unflattenable? I have bought a print that the last owner kept in the tube during one year ( as I have known ), it was really unflattenable ! It has Now big creases everywhere ! It must depend of the Thickness of the paper ! It was the Parody of Banksy, VERY LITTLE HELPER, by our dear colleague and member ... no wonโt tell ;-) No it was by JBoy ! I paid it then 100 quids and I did not asked refund to the seller as she is a friend and did not know. Beware the TUBE ๐!!

Sounds like you tried to flatten it too fast or it was rolled poorly. Is the paper thin or thick and is that screenprint or a giclee? The volume of prints I buy makes it hard to keep up with untubing/relaxing/flattening/filing process, so at times I'm a little more behind than others. Never does the length of time in a tube come into play as far as creasing goes. I bet that print was rolled poorly and you're seeing the result.

I have to admit, I don't bother too much. ย I just keep them under the bed with a sheet of acid free paper between each one. ย No expensive box or filing cabinet. ย Same here. Done this for years and nowt has happened yet.

Prints in Tubes, by kwatis on Oct 18, 2020 20:57:47 GMT 1, Smokeidaeye you can use archival print sleeves similar to these: www.dickblick.com/products/alvin-archival-print-protectors/
Comes in various sizes. If you get a piece of acid-free foam core it will be strong enough to stand and not effect the prints. I'd limit 4 prints per sleeve if faced with glassine or tissue paper.

Maybe 2 or 3 years , I canโt remember but the paper was so thick ! Never saw that With a print ( and it was still in the crystal paper !! ) .. I stayed one hour trying to keep it flat fir the night .. it was so .. desperate ! Really big creases as scarves ..

Prints in Tubes, by ajr on Oct 19, 2020 8:52:39 GMT 1, Put it in some acid free sleeves and a portfolio. Can also then store upright if the portfolio is strong enough, or add some thin plywood to the sides to make it more rigid and prevent it sagging. Ok if nothing of massive value

Prints in Tubes, by bestdj777 on Oct 20, 2020 18:35:07 GMT 1, I have roughly the same number that I store. I put them in oversize toploaders - rigid plastic holders like you use for baseball cards - and then put them all in an oversized, water resistant portfolio bag under my bed. So far it seems to be working.

Prints in Tubes, by ap0 on Nov 19, 2020 17:24:52 GMT 1, Thanks for the replies!
So I got the acid free paper to put in between the prints. The issue I have with putting print-paper-print-paper-... is that they're never perfectly flat, they are a bit "undulated" if you know what I mean. Should I put a panel in between? If so am I looking for a specific acid free material or any would do because there's a sheet of acid free paper between panel and print?
