Prints in Tubes, by Deleted on Jul 30, 2014 13:40:13 GMT 1, Those architects drawers as in cabinets are very nice to keep large prints in.
I'm sure you can get all the right paper to put either side of a print to lay the print on keep it flat and add more and more as time passes.
Hoping that all the prints you bought have held their value.

Prints in Tubes, by Deleted on Jul 30, 2014 14:11:21 GMT 1, Take the lid off turn it upside down and smack the other end...should pop right out Easiest way is if you have gloves wear them if not wash hands, put your hand in and expand(if you've got nails chew them off first) the direction the end of the print is going, slightly unexpanding(is that a word) as you twist, should come out nice and easy. If its in a tube too small to fit your hand don't bother taking it out its probably fucked

Prints in Tubes, by opalis141 on Jul 30, 2014 14:43:44 GMT 1, Good questions, Ivanhoe. Not sure why, but it unnerves me to see rare and expensive prints being held down with drinking glasses. I know that art supply shops sell holders just for this purpose, but I've just been too lazy to actually make the trip to one to buy a set. I always let the print relax un-weighted at least overnight so as not to over-tax the fibers in the paper. When I do get to the "weighted" stage I prefer using glass. A lot of the print weights out there are made out of cloth which can accumulate oil from your hands and dust from the atmosphere--not really great to have that sitting on top of a print. Glass is something you can make sure is clean. Also if you are really worried about the cleanliness of weights you can place a piece of acid-free buffer paper between them and the print.

Prints in Tubes, by opalis141 on Jul 30, 2014 20:18:00 GMT 1, Roll it the opposite way and stick it back in the tube for the same length of time....comman sense really You can really damage a print, especially if it is an older work, doing this. It can overtax the paper causing micro-tears and distort/weaken the ink on the print. D-rollers do exist for this purpose but a lot of people, myself included, caution against using them if possible.

Prints in Tubes, by Aza on Aug 2, 2015 11:57:17 GMT 1, I have a print that has been framed for 8 years or so, but I wish to use the frame for something else. Unfortunately the print will not fit in any portfolio I have. How safe is it to put into a tube? I realise it is not ideal, and I would look to get it reframed as soon as possible, but would it be OK for a few months?
Thanks for any info.

Prints in Tubes, by Nick on Aug 2, 2015 12:43:58 GMT 1, Should be fine for a few months. If you don't want to risk rolling it just buy a couple of a1 sheets of acid free mount from any art shop and store inbetween, under a bed or sofa..would only set you back about a tenner.

Prints in Tubes, by clairey on Jan 1, 2016 20:34:10 GMT 1, Hi,
I am selling a few prints at the moment and just a bit worried about getting the ones that have been stored flat into a postal tube.
I have ordered some decent tubes and some acid free tissue paper but just wondered if anyone had any tips for me as want to make sure I don't damage the prints!
thanks in advance :-)
