Damien Hirst โข Paper Veils, 300 Original Paintings, by yoss on Jan 26, 2023 17:59:57 GMT 1, At least Archive Gallery could have spelled "Damien" correctly in the flip...unless this is one of those "damein hirts" knockoffs...ha ha

Damien Hirst โข Paper Veils, 300 Original Paintings, by Archives Gallery on Jan 26, 2023 18:07:53 GMT 1, Apologies on the misspelling. Small mistakes happen from time to time. Weโve done enough deals with members on this forum for people to know we are legit. We understand peoples frustration over not being selected, and ultimately, if weโre being unreasonable with our asking price, the market will correct it naturally.

Damien Hirst โข Paper Veils, 300 Original Paintings, by yoss on Jan 26, 2023 18:16:16 GMT 1, On a side note, if the original owner wants to flip, there's nothing that can be done about that...but maybe next time wait for the Publisher to send emails out telling all of us losers that we lost first. Seeing it on sale prior to that is just salt in the wound...
I wouldn't mind if someone said they won and they were going to put it on their wall, but this just hurts...

Damien Hirst โข Paper Veils, 300 Original Paintings, by Alberto Collecto on Jan 26, 2023 18:19:37 GMT 1, We do believe we are doing collectors a service by giving them access to works they may not be able to get otherwise in a safe, headache free manner. The market dictates the premium. If 30-40% is not reasonable, the work will not sell. We have quite a few Avant Art editions available at cost now, same works that were selling for over 200% premiums before as thats where the market has pushed them to. The goal is to enable more access always, for anyone who did not get a chance to buy the work originally. Some works will always be more sought after than others and commend a premium. It would be like getting mad at a Banksquiat seller for not selling their work for original GDP purchase cost. I'm well aware of how the market works with regards to reselling and it is what it is.
What gets to me is this delusional claim you're making that somehow your actions are altruistic.
If you're going to flip that is your right, but at the very least OWN IT.

Damien Hirst โข Paper Veils, 300 Original Paintings, by Archives Gallery on Jan 26, 2023 18:22:44 GMT 1, As a collector myself, I wanted the work just as badly and was disappointed for not being selected.
I understand where you are coming from, and would say, all hope is not lost just yet as there is no guarantee that all selections have been made (could be on a rolling basis). In any case, the odds of any individual being selected are quite low.
We certainly hope Heni does the due diligence in ensuring these works go to good homes. We're not here to rub salts on anyone's wounds. Just trying to make the most of opportunities that get presented to us and build with collectors all over the globe.

Damien Hirst โข Paper Veils, 300 Original Paintings, by Archives Gallery on Jan 26, 2023 18:48:54 GMT 1, I understand the sentiment and do sympathize. We know how flipping a highly sought after, recently released work typically gets perceived at. However, we personally find value and satisfaction in connecting a party that is looking to sell a work with another that is looking to buy it - regardless of release date, artist, price, value ect.
Its easy to judge flippers, but even the most 'honorable collectors' do it from time to time. Sometimes there's other buying opportunities that are simply too good to pass on and require selling works to be able to afford. While you could argue that the honorable thing to do would be to resell at cost, it simply does not make sense for some pieces which are almost once in a life time opportunity (like getting a BanksQuiat at GDP price).
We're never ones to judge, and will always stand behind and support individuals who are willing to work with us.

Hard to imagine so much changed in their personal situation in the last 48 hours or whenever they were allocated it. Maybe just admit that they bought it to make a quick buck at the expense of whoever would have been next in line?

Damien Hirst โข Paper Veils, 300 Original Paintings, by brule on Jan 26, 2023 19:18:04 GMT 1, Iโm not saying anyone needs to feel bad about flipping art. Just donโt make it sound like something other than what it is. And not everyone buys pieces knowing they are going to flip them before the paint dries.

Damien Hirst โข Paper Veils, 300 Original Paintings, by dumbo on Jan 26, 2023 19:19:30 GMT 1, I am told that they have all been allocated and are awaiting payment. If the lucky winners decline then maybe there will be a second chance. The gallery did a very thorough job reading the applications and carefully choosing who was selected. The winners received a phone call not an email and that was then followed up with an email. Invoices have not been sent out yet.
They did the best they could but there will always be some that slip through the net or cannot resist a quick profit.
It is a bit rich advertising before its even been invoiced and paid for. As each one in unique hopefully it will be easy to identify flippers and blacklist them.

Damien Hirst โข Paper Veils, 300 Original Paintings, by inyc on Jan 26, 2023 23:16:06 GMT 1, I exchanged messages with Heni and below is what they said. Seems to imply that messages are still going out. _______ We are carefully reviewing each application and aim to have all allocations made by the end of January 2023. After the allocation has taken place, successful applicants will be notified by email and have five days to complete payment. A member of the client liaison team will be in touch to complete the order.
Once allocations are completed, all unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.

We have our reasons for trying to secure a buyer for the work pre-delivery. Can understand why that may not look wise at a surface level, and you certainly do not have to agree with it. That is all absolutely okay.
Always looking to improve, so if you do have any constructive feedback feel free to PM us and i'd love to have a conversation. Public bashing rarely ever provides any beneficial value to the individuals involved / community as a whole.

itโs all good fun

A group of you that all apply for art allocations or original pieces from blue chip artists, you split the risk you split the reward. Itโs on a basis of trust. For high value pieces (ยฃ80k+) thatโs ยฃ8k each between ten as an example. If you want to hold something longer term, rather than decide who has it on their walls you instead consign to a museum and earn a yield. If someone wants out, the group clubs together and buys them out. Similar to how a less liquid fund works in asset management.
