It’s on a basis of trust. For high value pieces (£80k+) that’s £8k each between ten as an example. If you want to hold something longer term, rather than decide who has it on their walls you instead consign to a museum and earn a yield. If someone wants out, the group clubs together and buys them out. Similar to how a less liquid fund works in asset management. There’s not enough profit in these to go through the hassle. A syndicate should aim higher if they know what they’re doing.

I think the main problem here is that all gallerys worldwide tried to get at least one, and if you do the math there are very slim margin a collector will be able to get an allocation.
