Banksy Rat Mural in NYC - New York, by BK83 on Sept 27, 2008 18:20:19 GMT 1, Huge Banksy mural going up on the corner of Wooster St. and Grand St. in SoHo, NY. Here are some early pictures, sorry camera phone quality-- will post better pictures soon.
FYI, I spoke to the 2 guys painting the mural; they are both professional commercial sign writers from Colossal Media, who: "may or may not have been commissioned by Banksy".

banksy will do the concepts and then if need be get someone else to do it, similar to a designer commissioning an illustrator or typographer to do something for them as its quicker and less hassle

Fair point. Although, you could argue that the actual art is the creation of the idea. How it is then transposed becomes irrelevant.
If this were a massive Nike advertisement (like the one shown on the colossal media website) is it still a Nike advertisement even thought Phil Knight isn't out there painting it or is it a copy of a Nike advertisement?
This is an advertisement for Banksy (as is all of his street work). I see no problem with him commissioning this work to be done. I don't see why anyone should. It in no way lessens the creative value of the art.

They did use that Paint Spray Gun thing that Paul Insect Used at the Canns Festival to spray that green with. But that stick figure rat deal is pretty Banksy.

kind of like how murakami, koones, hirst and shep can get 100's of pieces done a year. lots of helpers. Still their work though.
