At the end of the day I guess it comes down to who has the best lawyers like always. If the glove doesn't fit you must acquit. 
Im my little world MBW is in the wrong 'cause I don't like his work but love GEF's, and Shep is in the right 'cause I like his work and have no feelings one way or another towards Mannie Garcia or AP. However I can't say that out loud as I would seem stupid, so I "blatantly cherry picks details to suit the argument" instead.

Anyway, it was all discussed more here. It's just that the MBW lawsuit really brought to my attention how often Fairey has attributed photographers in the past, I think this will make it harder to win as it's basically his acknowledgment of the rights of photographers.

I think he can only argue the conceptual transformation (purpose of the image) as I guess most of the images (that I can remember at least) he has collaborated with photographers on are of a more artistic nature to begin with. It will definitely be interesting to see how the two cases pan out.

I still think the MBW will receive a fair amount of attention which will only fuel the hype surrounding him. It may well become "cool" to own a shit ironic piece of art. That 's the way these things work, there is no purity to them. The lack of originality and blatant use of iconic imagery carelessly remixed is a sad indictment of a lot of the things we see across the creative spectrum today. The question that remains from the film is does MBW take himself seriously as an artist or was he just bandwagoneering to try to ingratiate himself further with Banksy.

MBW has certainly gone to town here for this show. Did not take a single photo because my g/f and I were slightly underwhelmed. Not to say that the art was bad - I am sort of the fence - some of the art was very good, other pieces left you asking "why?" The best part of the show for me is three fold - the taxi as matchbox (the concept is rather hilarious!), the wall of artist icons, and the wall of Madonna album cover icons in various colorways and concepts.
The worst part of the show? Easy. Brent Bolthouse DJ-ing out of a giant over-sized boom box. BRENT BOLTHOUSE! Hahaha. Such a classic LA Douche!

A) That was actually a piece in the show, and B) Pretty sure the print is the Chaplin Life is Beautiful image from the preview flier and also posted by Cadeallaw above. Saw a huge stack of them sitting next to the door at check-in.

Apparently MBW was running round at the start of the show signing the originals, backing up the theory that he makes none of this himself.The cheapest piece was a hand finished print at 17k and then at the other end of theb scale was a stenciled canvas of Obama no bigger than 30x20 inches for 120k !!
Personally id rather spend my money in PDP and buy the Banksy canvas and 2 kaws for the same money....or maybe less
