NICK WALKER - Works Up For Mercy Appeal, by dogant on Sept 22, 2008 22:01:59 GMT 1, these books are f**king priceless. well done to all.
No they are not, they will go to the highest bidder and I guess that will be one of the main players/posters/buyers from this forum.
Great to the the latest works and the books coming near to an end - although, IMO NW could have tried a little harder - the vandal should have already died and the can is so yesterday (or does that make it a classic?).
Roll on the auction and the money going to charity - it will be very interesting to see who ends up with these books and where they go from there.
It's all for charity - so its all good.
As saying all of the above - well done to all involved.

NICK WALKER - Works Up For Mercy Appeal, by Harveyn on Sept 22, 2008 22:04:41 GMT 1, At least one book will be raffled giving everyone an equal chance of winning. Although I would add we also believe it will help raise more money that way.

Harveyn,
What are the final plans for the 3 books - I note from your original post that more details would follow.
IMO, very very humble opinion, if you goal is to raise as much funds are possible for charity – all the works should be sold separately. Obviously, some would sell for a lot more than other (NW, Hereket etc) – but I am sure a greater sum would be achieved at the end.
Will all the books go to the open market in some way – ether through a raffle, auction etc – or has some of these books already been earmarked for collectors and if so, how does the pecking order work? I note you say “at least one” book will be raffled.
I know its all for charity – but could these books not just become the property of the elite collector that is connected or has the largest purse in a small community?
You and all the people connected to this book have done a hell of a lot more than me or most of the posters on this forum to raise funds for charity – I hope the final result does not leave a bad taste in the mouth.
Best of luck with your final decision on how these books are moved & well done to for the work to this point.

NICK WALKER - Works Up For Mercy Appeal, by Martin Whatson on Sept 22, 2008 22:43:46 GMT 1, Im hoping for a raffle on one or more! You could always make three seperate raffles, one for each book, I think that will make up a lot of cash if the ticket numbers are unlimited!
Either way, DO NOT split up the books. Even if it collects more. The books is an example of what all this is about, the collaboration of artists working together for a good cause! I think that is just as important as gathering as much money as possible. It shows even we as artists can make a difference and I think it stitches the whole community tighter togehter!
Looking forward to giving the raffle a shot
Nice books.
(isnt Chris doing some work in all the books aswell??)

Is it an online auction then? or at an auction house or on here maybe?

Looking forward to seeing the books in all their glory, anyway we can have a thread with all the artwork displayed in one post?

NICK WALKER - Works Up For Mercy Appeal, by Harveyn on Sept 23, 2008 12:54:41 GMT 1, Hi folks we have several galleries and artists that are helping us promote the event (this list will grow). Ged will continue to update the Blog and I will post a separate thread with all the images from the books and single piece donations. This will be done when the final book is received back next week. In the interim I will post the format for the event next. We have taken into consideration many of the comments and some of those have been implemented this year and some will be followed through next year.
We have remained true to the spirit of the initial concept of getting a group of artists combined to help raise funds for a great cause.

NICK WALKER - Works Up For Mercy Appeal, by Harveyn on Sept 23, 2008 13:04:09 GMT 1, "Open & Shut"This years Open & Shut sketch pads have been put together to help raise funds for the Mercy Centre Foundation www.mercycentre.org/The Mercy Centre is a non profit organization in Bangkok. They build and operate schools, improve family health and welfare, protect street children's rights, combat the AIDS crisis, respond to daily emergencies, and offer shelter to orphans, to street children, and to children and adults with AIDS - always together, hand in hand and heart to heart with the people they serve This is the first of what we hope to be many annual appeals for a different charity each year. Each year will take the format of three sketch pads that will be sent to a group of artists to produce works of their choice to help raise funds for the nominated charity. Next years event will include a limited edition book of the works produced. This year’s contributors and people of immense generosity are as follows. Open & Shut - Y2008Book 1 Beejoir Mr Jago Chinamike Grafter Rourke Guy Denning Jef Aerosol Book 2Beejoir Matt Small Miss Bugs Mau Mau Goldie Hush Nick Walker Neverwork Book 3Beejoir Brian Jones Dale Grimshaw Herakut Case SPQR Static A full listing of the completed works can be found on the following blog. themercycentrefoundationappeal.blogspot.com/The following Galleries & Artists who have kindly agreed to help raise awareness of the appeal by adding links of this blog to their website. "Open & Shut"This years Open & Shut sketch pads have been put together to help raise funds for the Mercy Centre Foundation www.mercycentre.org/The Mercy Centre is a non profit organization in Bangkok. Next year we may look to auction houses to potentially maximise the funds raised. Books 1 & 2 will be raffled on Ebay with each ticket costing £5.00 and with payment strictly by Paypal. The auction will be listed as 100% donation to charity and the payments will be made directly to the Paypal account of the registered charity. In this way we minimise fees and maximise the contribution to the nominated charity. People are more than welcome to buy more than one ticket and the unique reference number issued by Paypal will be used in the raffle process. The two winners will be announced on the 01.11.2008. Book 3 will be auctioned on Ebay with the auction again commencing on the 11.10.2008 and running for 20 days. Payment for this book will be by Paypal or Cheque only. Any Paypal payment will again be made directly to the Paypal account of the registered charity and with all cheques being made out directly to the charity. Donations – Several Galleries and Artists made very kind separate donations. These will all be auctioned as individual items on Ebay during the month of Oct-08. Payment for these donations will be by Paypal or Cheque only. Any Paypal payment will again be made directly to the Paypal account of the registered charity and with all cheques being made out directly to the charity.
