If they are sold as a book - they will be broken up and sold anyway - so break them up and sell them off before someone else does!
Great work - by the way!

NICK WALKER - Works Up For Mercy Appeal, by bobbyt23 on Sept 8, 2008 20:48:47 GMT 1, There is some simply stunning work in these books.
I definitely think you should split the books uo and sell off the pages otherwise I'm never gonna be able to afford any.
I actually think you will probably make more money too.

NICK WALKER - Works Up For Mercy Appeal, by dogant on Sept 8, 2008 20:59:16 GMT 1, No doubt, more money will be made if the books are split - although some of the artists works will not fetch that much - some of the artists works will go through the roof.
Remember, this is real original stuff.
Split the books - before a big fat art wallet buys the lot and then breaks them up, puts them in a float frame and sell them - one by one.
IMO - of course.

Whilst I have no chance of affording a book, but could have afforded a page, it would be a great shame to move away from the original plan. The pieces by Jef are fantastic. I like the Hush's very much too. c

Obv it's going to get split eventually and it gives everyone a chance to get a piece of the book. Hence, making each piece more collectable. Then ppl will be trying to acquire certain pieces to make there own little framed book! hope that doesn't sound too cmplicated to comprehend. PEACE

NICK WALKER - Works Up For Mercy Appeal, by rosstierney on Sept 8, 2008 22:56:23 GMT 1, DO NOT SPLIT THEM UP!
with the concept being a charity auction, these will undoubtedly fetch a generous sum
imo, it's not a method a flipper would target as there will be no money left to be made
i'm pretty sure these will stay in the hands of collectors forever (well, i'd like to think so)

NICK WALKER - Works Up For Mercy Appeal, by Jef Aerosol on Sept 8, 2008 23:56:21 GMT 1, I have to say that the spiral binding is quite fragile and it's hard to open the book without the pages getting off that spiral thing... Besides, I was the last one in that book (there are three books altogether) and only 1/5 of the pages have been used. So, my suggestion would be to make only ONE book with all the painted pages of the 3 books and bind them in a way the pages can't be taken off and split. That would make a mighty piece of art, a nice book of originals for some serious collector. It would also allow to put some thinner protection pages in between each page and also maybe a page or two with some text about the cause etc... It's a great cause so maybe some wealthy people would be ready to give a good price. These books are a concept, splitting them up would be a bad move away from the original project, methink...

100 % agree. I don't think it should be any other way. If only it could be made a condition of the sale, but we don't live in that world unfortunately.

Neil and I are in the process of ironing out the finer points on how/when the books will be auctioned/raffled. We're taking everyones thoughts and concerns on board and will post the details here within the coming weeks.
Thanks for all the feedback,

NICK WALKER - Works Up For Mercy Appeal, by seidbereit on Sept 9, 2008 10:34:32 GMT 1, Yet again, just catching up with this thread again after another swathe of weeks have passed by (last look in was when Dale Grimshaw's pieces were added) and the books are just getting better and better! The two contributions from Rourke really stand out IMO... it really is high time he started to gain more general recognition for his talent as it seems (as far as I know) to be largely only recognised on this forum and much less so outside the forum's boundaries. Excellent stuff all round though - in years to come I can see these books being absolutely invaluable as a nutshell collection of the street art movement and some of the names that go to make it so great! Outstanding work by all artists involved (and of course by Harveyn and Ged for all the organisation!)
I look forward to seeing the last few updates.

OK, my suggestion to go into the mixing pot if it hasnt been mentioned before is..................make 300 or so limited editions of the book, sell 300 tickets for around ยฃ50-ยฃ100 each, 300 people get a limited edition book and one lucky entry gets the originals

Or get people to pay between certain dates. Make a limited run of however many books. Then one lucky person gets the original.
Then you will make loads of money, everyone who wants one will get one and everyone's happy. As a result there wont be 30 pages of people moaning on here.
EDIT- By the time I'd finished typing you'd already suggested it.
