Anthony Lister Charged with Sexual Assault, by NYart on Mar 16, 2020 16:29:17 GMT 1, Last time I checked Trump is the President of the United States. Was waiting for a nonsense post like this. He’s also sexually assaulted women and his wife won’t hold his hand. He’s just a rapist in office doesn’t mean he won’t have justice served eventually. Look at his 4 years in office. Has he had many positive days with world applause. None Why would you put him in a category with 3 convicted rapists. Pretty sure he’s never been accused of drugging and raping anyone. Certainly haven’t heard any underage claims. Clearly just looking for someone to take the bait. Not really the place to troll and argue politics when serious claims are being made.

Coronavirus effect on the art market?, by NYart on Mar 15, 2020 2:40:11 GMT 1, At this point, we won't know the cause of the spread in each region. However the finger pointing will inevitably happen for countries with high levels of infections and deaths. Who's to blame, a complacent government or the complacent public? As I said before, I’m certainly not anti testing, just not convinced it’s much more than a feel good thing. If people are unable or unwilling to self quarantine it really does nothing. Even if they are they’ve had days to spread it before testing positive. It’s worth mentioning that correlation isn’t necessarily causation. Just because South Korea tested more and has lower rates of infection than Italy doesn’t necessarily mean it itself has prevented the spread. Maybe South Koreans are more willing to stay at home when ill, it certainly seems they’re more willing to take precautions than us in the US. I haven’t seen a single individual in public wearing a mask. Any pictures I see from over there they all have them on public transportation. There’s certainly cultural and societal differences between Italy and South Korea, any in terms of social interaction or anything of that nature could certainly have a significant impact on transmission rates.
Ultimately the public, the individual, has far more ability to keep themselves, and others safe. The government can inform, and enforce to some extent but it’s up to the individual to make the right choices. From proper hygiene, minimizing exposure in public, and staying home when ill, those are the actions that spread or contain the virus, not decisions made on the national level.

Coronavirus effect on the art market?, by NYart on Mar 15, 2020 2:06:16 GMT 1, South Korea and Italy both started with Covid-19 at the same time in Jan/Feb. South Korea went testing like crazy, and Italy didn't. Now Italians have over 21k cases 1400+ dead, and South Korea only 8k cases 72 dead. Testing is better than not testing, numbers don't lie. Right now Italy lead China in infections per million. Italy - 21k infections per pop. 60M China - 80k infections per pop. 1.4B This will start the xenophobia towards italians and their pizza and pasta restaurants. By the time they show symptoms and know to be tested they’ve already had multiple days to spread it. At this point in time, anyone who is ill should self quarantine themself out of caution regardless of testing positive for COVID. I’m not trying to argue that testing shouldn’t be more available, but it really doesn’t solve anything. Especially if people are more concerned about themselves than others. Would testing positive for covid make them more likely to not break their self quarantine versus knowing theyre sick and ‘maybe having it’? Perhaps, but that’s the biggest positive about upping the testing. The insufficient testing is just a scape goat for explaining something that really can’t be controlled. We could test everyone to make people feel better, than the following week have an increase in infections.

We could test everyone to make people feel better, than the following week have an increase in infections. It would drive the numbers down for the concious members of the public to follow but as I showed earlier in a few links there are people with hate in the public purposefully spitting in the public on items ,hand rails ,lift buttons, traffic light buttons etc majority of the public would follow recommendations and self isolate earlier . agree only martial law would contain which is almost the level Italy is on course . I have a keen interest in ongoing situations as i am in the emergency service sector ,also a registered carer for a 99 year old and have a young child
I’d say the one policy change that could make a significant difference is guaranteed paid sick leave. It would help keep those who don’t have PTO, enough of it to self quarantine for two weeks, or those who can’t afford to take unpaid leave at home. But then there’s always the factor of are they prepared and able to isolate themselves for 14 days? Being willing to self quarantine is one thing, being able to is another. Got to imagine not many are. But that coupled with a wider availability of testing could definitely put a dent in it, but obviously couldn’t eliminate it.

Coronavirus effect on the art market?, by NYart on Mar 15, 2020 1:32:46 GMT 1, Seems people are rather optimistic thinking that government and policies can control the spread of a virus. There’s really only two options, continue as normal and let it run it’s course. Or completely shut down everything and more or less impose martial law. If you half ass it like most places have been doing, canceling school here and there, closing borders and restricting travel, but not completely restricting everyone fo their homes, it still spreads. Testing is great in theory, but what does it achieve? The end result is the same, self quarantine. Whether you have symptoms or you’ve been confirmed positive, they tell you to self quarantine. Sure those in contact with you now know to worry, but if everything isn’t shut down yet, are they going to not work for the next two weeks on the off chance their contact with you infected them? People as individuals have to weigh the pros and cons of their actions, and more often than not act in self interest. So unless individuals are well prepared to self quarantine and movement is restricted and enforced it will still spread. What happens when everyone has been home for two weeks or more, people run out of food, stores aren’t open, and even if they were those driving the trucks to resupply them haven’t been to work? Modern people and society can’t function with the shut down required to prevent the spread of a pandemic. We’re just fortunate this virus apparently “only” has a 2% death rate because it’s a folly to believe anything can realistically be done to stop it. Testing kits would help cut the number of infected people , by reducing the time the contaminated person is out in the general public domain spreading the virus as present most people show symptoms after 10 days as similar to cold symptoms most people discard their symptoms and carry on in public life by spreading the virus . Testing kits will shorten the time the person is mixing in public ,cut the numbers of infection and helps the NHS and gives further time until peak is reached

With a little luck it’ll prove to be mostly seasonal like SARS, MERS, and the Flu, so we’ll see temporary relief in a couple months. Even banking on a vaccine is optimistic considering the flu vaccines average effectiveness is far from impressive. Prepare for this to be a recurring issue, and you’ll be ahead of the curve and do a far greater job protecting your self and family than any government or policies can do.

Dran show Paris, by NYart on Mar 10, 2020 11:10:19 GMT 1, Awesome piece, what is this edition called?
“Children Painting on Walls” I believe it is.
If anyone happened to grab one of the above and it isn’t making the walls, feel free to reach out. A member kindly grabbed me one, but unfortunately USPS didn’t treat it too well. Fortunately insurance paid out, but I’d really like one still haha.

Be careful with members with zero posts!, by NYart on Mar 9, 2020 23:18:32 GMT 1, Ok a related note, I have an offer for asking price for the RTC piece I posted today. Won’t name names, but just joined the forum w 1 post and offered me a check. I said PayPal or Venmo and they had to set up a PayPal account, which they did. USA based...is there any possibility of getting scammed if paid w PayPal? I would definitely take plenty of pics of the packaging, etc prior to shipping. Want to sell but want to obviously protect myself first and foremost.
As a seller you don’t have much protection from being scammed via PayPal. Take pics, and require them to sign for the package. Gives you best odds of winning the case.

Getting my Banksquiat framed. Some urgent questions..., by NYart on Mar 9, 2020 10:52:42 GMT 1, 1. i went with mat as the framer told me that tape needs to be used with floating. that said, i am worried about potential discoloration down the line and i'm not sure if i made the right choice. Can anyone answer this? Can you frame it without tape, if you use a mat? And should you worry about the discolour? Even with a mat you still need archival corners or tape, otherwise the print will slide. Yes discoloration is damage, and value loss.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by NYart on Mar 6, 2020 21:59:39 GMT 1, Well that's Harry banned 😂 The mention of banned, is anyone else getting this screen when they use 4G?
Sounds like it’s probably IP related, your IP will be different depending on whether your on WiFi or 4G. Not sure why you’d get IP banned and not your account terminated though.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by NYart on Feb 28, 2020 15:30:45 GMT 1, I think some might be being overly optimistic about future numbers. If I recall the original email stating no more left was back in the middle of October - and we now sit at the end of February. So it's taken them 4 months to get the original 500 out - and now working on the next batch. 1000s more coming to market might be a stretch going by that timeline. Paying 2x or 2.5x original cost on an authorized Banksy is not a huge inflation compared to other releases. Soup posters when POW closed for example. If you feel lucky then wait a few months and see if you get lucky again.... Otherwise you might want to grab one now from the secondary. Any number of things can happen to stop these being produced, sadly Coronavirus arriving in the area might be such one. Good luck either way - amazing gesture by Banksy and great work by Love Welcomes. Comparing these to other Banksy releases misses the point, it’s a door mat and a pretty shabby one, it’s kind of the point if GDP. These are not desirable and only hardcore collectors will have any interest in them. I’d much rather buy a factory made door mat from Homebase for £10 and just donate the £500.
Except Banksy explicitly says the opposite, its not “just a doormat” it’s intended as a work of art. By that comparison the Met helmet or stab vests aren’t a work of art either.
No matter how many are released these will always be closer to a ‘real banksy’ than tenners, petrol bomb posters, soup cans, all of which are collected by more than “only hardcore collectors” and go for well over the retail of the mats.

Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by NYart on Feb 18, 2020 21:00:17 GMT 1, For those of you lucky enough to get a di-faced tenner with your edition 1 releases I’m curious on other winners Order Numbers? My order number was 113X - Shopify Order Numbers Start at 1000 so assuming there were prints ordered off the site before etc makes sense that I could be in first 50 and win the tenner (Thanks Laz!) I have seen a user mention they got a tenner but there order number was 117X - However I have seen multiple orders between my order number and there’s who did not win a tenner - Curious as if they stuck to the process of first 50 orders got the tenner or did random in the end!
110X .. they must have weeded out quite a few in between. Presumably multiple orders and those they suspected used a bot.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by NYart on Feb 15, 2020 1:44:02 GMT 1, That’s what I paid too - to singapore. It’s worryingly little!
Must have just had a flat rate international price. I’m sure they’ll be paying more than that but

Banksy's on eBay • Real or Fake?, by NYart on Feb 15, 2020 0:11:02 GMT 1, Not sure what you’re insinuating mate but I’d don’t appreciate being defamed so I suggest you delete that comment.
He’s suggesting that that’s a lot of money for an unsigned silver flag.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by NYart on Feb 14, 2020 20:09:09 GMT 1, If they’re going to the trouble of numbering them, it’s not much harder to give a coa ? If they want too. If they’re numbered out of 500 the next batch would have to be different in some way to differentiate from the 1st 500.
They did say they’d be numbered, not necessarily numbered out of a set amount.
