Banksy at Bridge Farm Primary School, by Agent Provocateur on Jun 6, 2016 13:01:25 GMT 1, Knowing what quite a few forum members look like, and their penchant for hairing it over to the latest Banksy to take some photos, I am extremely worried what will happen when they're all lined up at the primary school fence, zoom lenses going in and out! This forum maybe a bit quite for a while!

New DRAN solo show 2016, by Agent Provocateur on May 27, 2016 11:19:09 GMT 1, @peterbengsten ahhhh it's not 'a crudely painted anus'! It's a childlike representation of the sun, maybe trying to encapsulate the yearning the child has for brightness in her life when she grows up, rather than the dark and disturbing world she sees the adults around her inhabiting now?
Haven't got a clue really, but will never be able to look at it again without thinking it's titled 'Brown Starfish'!

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Agent Provocateur on May 26, 2016 17:14:36 GMT 1, stender I agree [edit: about the waste of money in moving the parliament].
What I don't get with this referendum is why most talking heads in the media and serfs like us discussing it (that I've heard) say:
a. if they want to leave, EVERYTHING would be coolashaka if we left, and doom if we didn't b. if they want to stay, EVERYTHING would be funky if we did, and carnage if we left
Am I mad to think there's positives in both arguments, there's some crap that doesn't help us in the EU, but also positive stuff that does?
In the end who knows what will happen if we leave (good or bad), nobody knows categorically, it's all speculation and massaging aromatic oils into distorted figures manipulated to favour one argument or the other.
And if we all look up at the advertising on this forum, you may notice a 'Vote Leave' advertising banner. I wonder if our esteemed, and highly intelligent dictator Silky, was approached by said organisation enquiring about advertising space on here, or whether it was the other way round?

delete, by Agent Provocateur on May 13, 2016 10:37:28 GMT 1, On an interesting side note, and one for the conspiracy theorists, spotted this snippet from a Ted Pim article on the weburbanist site...
"Working under an assumed name, Belfast artist Ted Pim has spent the last ten years traveling the worldโฆ"
weburbanist.com/2015/07/23/baroque-and-broken-eerie-paintings-in-abandoned-places/
It's the only place I've seen the 'assumed name' point mentioned so presume it's inaccurate reporting. But if true, does it mean he was painting under an assumed name when travelling for the past 10 years, or Ted Pim is an assumed name?
And before anyone says it, I know he exists, I think the paintings I've seen are great.

delete, by Agent Provocateur on May 10, 2016 13:06:09 GMT 1, Alright, I wasn't going to but sod it I'll have another little dabble, trying to keep it succinct!
I'll stick with the two pieces I looked at last time, 'Abandoned School, Sevilla 2010' and 'Old Factory, Atlanta 2012', where I highlighted the rooms were actually the same and probably a mis-titling of the files had occurred, links to my two posts below:
urbanartassociation.com/post/1487193/thread urbanartassociation.com/post/1487245/thread
Ted Pim replied to an enquiry by Poly Mindset saying he HAD labelled the images incorrectly and they WERE the same wall. Unfortunately he didn't expand and say which city (Sevilla or Atlanta) the wall was in and what years they were painted. Polymindset's post below:
urbanartassociation.com/post/1487242/thread
To cut to the chase I looked at both photos again keeping an eye out for any Photoshop jiggery pokery this time, concentrating on the Atlanta one there seems to quite a few areas that look like they could have had some manipulation. I've posted a few images below after I simply adjusted the levels (which took a few seconds).
Original 'full' image (unadjusted)
Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
Adjusted 'full' image
Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 LEVELS by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
The areas that immediately looked dodgy were the right shoulder and arm of the painted figure, left and right wall and along the top of the black paint on the back wall.
Detail of painted figure
Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 LEVELS D1 by By Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
Notice the purply splurge going down the right hand side of the painted figure, how it doesn't have the same pixel noise of the black wall and is slightly blurry. This also occurs on the black background at the top of the wall with a grey colour.
Detail of right hand wall
Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 LEVELS D2 by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
The grey untextured colour is much more obvious here, very matt and flat compared to the texture of the rest of the wall. In the image of the same room (originally said to be in Sevilla) there is quite a distinctive pattern on the wall that seems to be missing.

Street Art Banksy & Co. Exhibition, by Agent Provocateur on May 7, 2016 21:57:18 GMT 1, This isn't the Andipa show then either? Lots of Banksy in Italy right now. I'm unsure what to make of this show as I have a lot of respect for Blu and in taking a stand and supporting the artist a lot of other people are now also being prosecuted. We seem to be losing site of real street art and are being spoon-fed sterile curated walls / hoardings. A very well known artist who had a recent pop-up show was telling me that he hasn't seen any decent street-art in London for years as it has been taken over by profiteers curating walls for street art tours....or shows like this. Blu simply took back what he gave as he doesn't want to see work meant for the street to end up in the gallery and now he's and others are prosecuted for it - it is all immensely hypocritical and we really should be supporting artists like Blu who remain true to the whole sub-culture of street-art
This.... not eloqeunt enought to say how how true, accurate and succinct this post is about street art in 2016. I want to but just end up repeating what's said above. Obviously it won't change anything and there'll be a long sad decline, but the positive angle is when more and more people realise they're being taken for a tide maybe something positive will happen.

delete, by Agent Provocateur on May 4, 2016 16:43:27 GMT 1, Maybe the floor in one of them wasn't great so they photoshopped a better floor. Not unheard of to comp pictures to improve them. The actual walls look different on both which is probably more important. I agree comping can be done in images when elements from one photo taken in the same place and the same time are better than another (so merged). But with this example of paintings in totally different rooms 1000's of miles apart, you're saying he decided to add the floor from Sevilla to Atlanta (or vice versa) because it was better. Combined with the same peeling paint along the bottom of the wallโฆ and didn't think it would seem slightly dodgy?
Sorry Winter but I'm going to disagree with your second point too! If you look at the bottom of the painted black backgrounds on both, they have the same shapes and patterns appearing at the same points along the wall (except for in the middle and far right of Atlanta piece where it slightly differs).
Having said all that, everything (apart from harryh74 's observation of the ceiling) can be explained by a simple misnaming of one of the jpgs, and they were painted in the same room with different lighting.
I have no issues, problems or vendetta's with Ted Pimโฆ but having done some photo manipulation in the past find these abandoned building images fascinating as they are advertised as being painted in completely different locations.
[Edit: see post aboveโฆ bingo, labelled wrong! I will crawl back in to my hole now]

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Agent Provocateur on May 4, 2016 13:54:19 GMT 1, The first thing I thought when I saw those "abandoned school, etc" images was that the whole thing was painted. ie the whole abandoned building setting is painted. delete, by Agent Provocateur on May 4, 2016 13:53:38 GMT 1, I've just had a quick look at the images of Ted Pims paintings in the abandoned buildings, and downloaded the largest one's I could find from www.streetartnews.net/2015/07/ted-pim-series-of-baroque-pieces-in.html.
The two I think people will find most interesting are the ones that were titled (by Street Art News) 'Abandoned School, Sevilla 2010.jpg' and 'Old Factory, Atlanta 2012.jpg', which should mean two completely different abandoned rooms in buildings thousand of miles apart (I have not edited the images at all, not even resized them, just uploaded as I found them on Street Art News).
But, have a look at the flaking paint at the bottom of both walls from left to right, the flakes are exactly the same shapes and in the same position!
Abandoned School, Sevilla 2010 by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
And a closer crop of both...
Abandoned School, Sevilla 2010 DETAIL by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 DETAIL by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
I am hoping street art news labelled them wrong, and they were both painted in the same room, but then that would preclude he painted one then painted the next directly on top.
Can someone please prove my misgivings wrong...
AP detective agency signing off!

Charity Thread. Banksy and more, by Agent Provocateur on Apr 18, 2016 12:29:14 GMT 1,
I'd usually try and make some witty comment, but between the title of the piece and the charity the auction is in aid of, I think I'll leave it.
Here's a LINK to the auction, please bid generously and share on social media with your friends (you can share my posts for it on [ Instagram @apheadquarters ] [ Facebook @apantisocial ] or [ Twitter @apheadquarters ]) if that's easier, it's all for a great cause.
