Ron English Print 🇺🇸 Popaganda • Pop Culture • Toys, by jam on Sept 19, 2008 20:22:39 GMT 1, Who knows what state Daniel lives in and operates JetSet Graffiti from as a business? Find that out if it's CA for certain, then file complaints about his business practices and theft to the state attorney general ag.ca.gov/. They will investigate and prosecute him, and put him in jail and/or fine him.
Regardless of weather nor not anything happens to him on the criminal front, they will turn his info over to the IRS who will comb though his income to make sure he has declared everything he made (which is HIGHLY unlikely considering things like the Palestine 'recovered' Banksy wall and prints from SG). If he hasn't paid income tax on everything, he will wind up in jail for tax evasion. If you prefer to do it on your own, contact the IRS Criminal Investigation Hotline at 001.800.829.0433 , and speak to someone about your concerns over his business practices and high probability that he isn't paying taxes on the income.

BEFORE ITS TOO LATE ? SELL SELL SELL, by jam on Sept 15, 2008 22:52:53 GMT 1, Who's to say there won't be even more people looking at art as an alternative place to put their money seeing how it has beat many index funds in performance over the past 35 years. I'd rather have a nice piece of art on the wall than have the cash under my mattress and I bet it would outpace inflation and I can still insure it. While many believed the Hirst sale would be a flop, I think we are seeing evidence of a conscience shift of funds to art as a 'safe' place to keep money.

How Fucked is the US Economy?, by jam on Sept 15, 2008 17:46:38 GMT 1, MER being bought by BAC is actually a very good thing.
Agree 100%. People miss the big picture with this deal, but I strongly believe it will prove to be a brilliant purchase on BAC's part.
As for the rest, things aren't as bad as people believe. I think there is a bit of hysteria going on because the majority of people that hear the news from Wall St do not understand economics and just buy into the doom and gloom reporters trying to sell commercial spots. Greed and "creating wealth without any perceivable increase in value" has a way of coming full circle... frankly I am surprised it lasted this long. The positive thing is that the US economy is resilient and will use this trying time to sort the wheat from the chaff in our finance markets.

Judith Supine Hits New York's East River, by jam on Aug 29, 2008 22:25:16 GMT 1, His early work used pale colors, the vibrant colors didn't come about until more recently. The biggest issue with the one shown is that the execution and composition of this piece is so far short of what you would see with an authentic Supine.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by jam on Aug 22, 2008 19:39:18 GMT 1, £1,000,000 in Di faced Tenners = 100,000 fake tenners - one real difaced tenners sells on ebay for at least £100. 100,000 x £100 = £10,000,000 at least in real money £400,000 would be a good investment exactly what I was thinking -- 9.6million quid profit -- think there are 100000 people who'd want a diface tenner?
Maybe 100k people want them, but at what price? I think if someone were foolish enough to buy into this idea of an 'investment', they would destroy the existing market and you would see these trading at £3-4 ea... even if spread out over 5 or more years (market threshold and such).

Jean-Michel Basquiat 🇺🇸 Brooklyn, New York • Graffiti Art , by jam on Aug 13, 2008 0:17:38 GMT 1, I highly doubt this is/was authentic. The description was sketchy at best and there are some key issues with it:
-How would this guy not know JMB couldn't have painted it 40-50 years (until he was presumably corrected by someone watching the auction)?
-How could he spell Basquiat's name incorrectly when it was clearly printed on the scrap of paper on the backside of the frame?
-Who would tape that bit of paper to the back with an estimate of $10-20k and feel that was adequate framing and presentation of 'provenance'?
-An authentic Basquiat of this composition and size would command substantially more than even the estimate of $10-20k as claimed on the 'Richard Lowden' tag (not an accredited gallery).
-The seller is in Brooklyn, NY... only a few stops on the tube from Christies, Sothebys, Bonhams NYC locations. How is it conceivable that he wouldn't bother having the piece checked out or consigned with any one of them?
Lastly, a piece of paper to show 'provenance' is just as easy (if not easier) to fake as a piece of art. While I am no Basquiat expert, I have seen many in person and know a collector in NY that has many pieces. I messaged her when I saw this listing come up and she said she didn't believe it was real, that JMB wouldn't have included a sig on a piece that had a crown on it... and he nearly always signed things on the verso. Unless the buyer could have the piece inspected by an expert before paying, I wouldn't be spending any money on this piece.

Ron English Print 🇺🇸 Popaganda • Pop Culture • Toys, by jam on Aug 6, 2008 10:25:38 GMT 1, Disgusting that it all dragged on so long with no communication/broken promises and finally came down to Ruat taking action to get a result, and in the 11th hour.
Personally, I thought Daniel was a scumbag when I saw him flogging all the Santas Ghetto prints and I wouldn't have wanted much to do with him from then on. Now I will be sure to add Jetset Graffitti/Daniel Lahoda to my shortlist of people to never deal with... along with Morrisey1 and Verbal.

Jokes!, by jam on Aug 6, 2008 7:40:02 GMT 1, I rear-ended a car this morning on the way to work. So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car and I couldn't believe it.... he was a dwarf. He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!!!'
I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which one are you?'

Enough with the exposure !, by jam on Aug 2, 2008 3:23:24 GMT 1, That's most likely because he has flipped more prints than the most of us combined. Just how many MQ prints have you had and sold? Are you having a laugh! ;D ;D ;D Can you tell me how many pieces of Art I have sold this year? One maybe two actually it might not even be any Now take a look at the Ebay section of this site and tell me about all the members that have whole LISTS of things for sale at this moment. Give us a break
What about prior to "this year"?

Your latest Art Purchase?, by jam on Jul 28, 2008 1:10:40 GMT 1, Now that was one of the rare posts that really made me laugh out loud! In part, it's because I'm not sure that it was intentional on wizbong's part. Earlier comments by mose come to mind.
I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one laughing. The problem is, you never know who's being funny in asking these sorts of questions by implying they've got a complete lack of knowledge of art versus those who are genuinely oblivious.

I will be within a hr or so from where he lives in a couple weeks. Keep this thread updated as to what kind of reply if any, his victims are getting and we'll go from there.

Banksy Flying Copper Print, by jam on Jul 21, 2008 20:20:10 GMT 1, "- Print is in excellent / near mint condition save slight ripple in paper/paint (natural not incidental) It has been stored flat in sealed mount since purchased (will be removed from mount for shipping). - Dry-mounted, no glue or any adhesive used."
Not sounding like a good example imo.

Banksy Flying Copper Print, by jam on Jul 21, 2008 10:09:10 GMT 1, I'm continually surprised by the lack of warm reception for this image, as I am quite fond of it myself. I have always regarded the small wings as a reflection of the inadequacies of police (and authority figures in general), despite having imposing size and accoutrement. I searched quite a while to find a signed version to replace my unsigned and it seems they rarely come available, so I can't be the only one who likes the big guy!

Where is morrissey1?, by jam on Jul 21, 2008 5:03:38 GMT 1, It doesn't matter if it was $2.00 If he owes the money he should pay it, or have the balls to tell you he doesn't feel he owes you and go pound sand. To parade around on the forum telling sob stories, asking to buy prints, trying to selling art, or posting at all without addressing his debit to you is an insult to us all. He's a thieving coward, plain and simple.

Copying the image and printing 'Banksy' on it is a deplorable act in itself, only worsened by the fact it's being offered by another person who works as an artist.
