Terrible! Only one speaker works properly and for God knows why the s**tty radio antenna can only pick up Heart FM. Spacing issues mean that's the set up for the next month or so. And they're minidiscs not cds they're the future don't you know!
New set up will be slightly more professional

Or given your minidiscs perhaps they are laser disks and you are really going retro!!!

The collection is up in my mum's loft, soon to be saved and in the house Will all be good when you connect it up, get your records and then start to play.... as much as I said I hated playing with the setup last weekend I secretly really enjoyed it and playing with the speaker placement and trying different tracks from different records some heavy base, some electronic etc.... you will love it!

Couldn't see what the new records were..... I just managed to find the complete collection of roxy music LP's (8 in total) for 99 dollars when its listed at 199 so looking forward to getting that set!

Pet sounds by the pet shop boys remixed by a Welsh guy called Bullion. Keaton Henson's classical album Xx new album Nirvana unplugged Goldie's inner city life remixed by Burial Fat Freddy's Drop
At the moment trying to get some classic albums back on vinyl. Proving expensive

Show us your HIFI System, by yorkie on Aug 3, 2017 21:53:18 GMT 1, Haven't put pictures up yet but just invested in some Sennheiser HD 800s headphones and I'm running them from the VPI amp.
They are amazing - although you do need a powerful source to power them ..... my VPI has the headphone socket amped so these are really powerful and so clear.
I also got the chance to listen to the top of the range Orpheus headphones..... the experience was amazing but 55k dollars for a set of headphones!!!! The whole experience was incredible though, just turning it on - the controls come out of the marble and then the tubes come up and warm up followed by the lip to where the headphones are stored comes up.... then you can put the headphones on. A total exhibition of opulence - but I couldn't tell any real difference in the sound to the HD 800s....
The speakers in the room were also $125k and they wouldn't let me take pictures of the setup!- just need my lottery ticket to come in (actually to do that I need to buy a lottery ticket)...

Show us your HIFI System, by Cardiff on Oct 15, 2020 4:35:29 GMT 1, Hey yorkie Hope you're well...just getting set up with a new hifi system and am in the market for a nice turntable set up. What model VPI is this...looks gorgeous! Many thanks! PS-given the lack of live music during this pandemic, a hifi thread seems really relevant.

My home stereo is Unison Research valve hybrid amp, Technics SL1200G, Focal Chora826 with 600 Sub, Pioneer FT850 cassette player and Arcam CD player and streamer.
And my other system, Naim Superuniti amp and steamer, Kef LS50 speakers, with Kube 8b Sub, pairs of Technics SL1200GR, Pioneer CDJ2000 and CDJ 900 nexus. Stacks of vinyl.

Show us your HIFI System, by Cardiff on Aug 10, 2022 16:34:49 GMT 1, I've gotten fairly deep into hifi in the last few years and believe that the equipment of today is light years better than vintage equipment. The options are nearly limitless...if you want that warm 70s sound, you can buy Harbeth speakers, a laid back tube system, warmer speaker cables, and any of a wide range of turntables. If you want a more analytical sound, buy some B&W speakers, an overly detailed Mark Levinson system, brighter cables, and a super detailed DAC. For me, the sweet spot lies between these two extremes...super neutral YG Acoustics speakers that just disappear, tube-like sounding D'agostino pre/amp, REL sub, and nuetral Nordost speaker cables. I can hear all the detail that I want in a non-fatiguing (warmer), full sounding set up.
I get the appeal of vintage gear...just wanted to make the point that today you can get whatever sound you are looking for by selecting the right combination of gear, cables, tweaks, room treatments, etc..
