Inti (Chile), Jaz (Argentina), Saner (Mexico) and Decertor (Peru) presents next July 4th a collection of artworks created around a main concept, based on a letter from the XVI century.
This letter, dated December 1583, mentions an old tradition whereby mestizos and indigenous artists were recruited to represent some European classical prints, totally prohibiting any kind of creativity. The result, of course, used to escape from the original image, soaking up the personality of their creators. Today, back to the XXI century, the four artists behind "Barroco Mestizo" resume that tradition letting their styles and influences to recreate he original images, making new artworks that will be exhibited on the walls of Montana Gallery.
Opening Thursday July 3, 2014 from 20pm.

go check the Montana gallery/shop, the guys got an os gemeos painting on a door and a dran canvas in their cafe next door to the gallerie, pretty cool!

A visit to one of the Gaudรญ buildings is also a must. My favorite is Casa Batllรณ.

piece of non-art advice.... keep a very tight hold on to your wallet/bag/phone... it's unbelievable for pickpockets over there, especially around the Ramblas/beach. Amazing city though - one of my favourites.

Going to the opening game in a few weekends who they playing?, I've seen them twice v Arsenal at Nou camp but went to a la liga game v malaga a few years back on holiday with my eldest son it ended up 6-0 we couldn't believe it. It's my favourite city in europe. |
