Another nice area is Born - great street art gallery there called Iguapop + loads of nice bars. It's the new happening area there.

Most of the pics of grafitti I took were around that area too, yes very nice part of town.

I visited last year and stayed at Hotel 1898 on Las Ramblas... and loved it. Some people prefer to stay away from the noise and action, but we really liked it there. It's a relatively new hotel so everything is nice and clean, and the hotel staff are all very friendly. We particularly enjoyed walking to the outdoor market (only a couple of blocks away) every morning for breakfast.

enjoy, it's a great city.. if you want to see street art.. Difusor festival was last month..so should be lots around.. city was buffed in January pre election time, so the city lost a massive amount of work.. hopefully it starts getting hit again.

And thanks to a similar thread on Wall Candy I found a place to stay (Thanks Corblimey!) and a few other tips, most of them repeated on this thread. Anyway I took some photos of street art and in Iguapop gallery ("Bestial" exhibition, curated by Miss Van).

I like Hotel Duquesa De Cardona on the harbour at the bottom of the gothic qtr - v nice 4* and only a couple of mins walk to the ramblas. V quiet at night.

If it's the squat at the bottom of Las Ramblas.. they knocked it down ! The other one on the left at the bottom got a shed load of government funding and is now a nice clean arts center.. zzzz.

When you leave you'll find that the whole street is full of some great stencils, also in the old quarter by a club called Moog (ciutat vella) there is plenty of stencils too. I took some photos and posted them in the street art gallery. I reckon half the joy is stumbling across them yourself ! Have fun...
