Banksy Links, by hankpank on May 2, 2006 22:21:13 GMT 1, Hi all, I've put a few pictures from my recent trip to london from Sweden. Banksy street art, POW, and Lazirides gallery. Not finished yet, but better to post now before it's too out of date: hem.bredband.net/b152220/banksy/

I nearly went to that Primal Scream gig, but never got there in the end.
My husband was Mick Jones' best mate at school

Banksy Links, by hankpank on May 6, 2006 19:18:01 GMT 1, I've made a major of update of my photodiary of Banksy & others street art-hunting in London in early April. There's now almost 200 pictures. hem.bredband.net/b152220/banksy/ The text is not completed, but it's probably not my ramblings that are of interest here.
gm> Sorry that you didn't make the Primal Scream gig, it was fantastic. Is your husband still mates with Mick? Tell him to send my regards in that case. Was your husband one of those mentioned in Mick's Clash song "Stay Free"? It's one of the best Clash tunes. No, it's one of the best tunes, period! Also check out Mick & Tony James band Carbon/Silicon: www.carbonsiliconinc.com/ . Their last album is free to download. In true Copyright/Copywrong-spirit

Possibly, but I can tell you line 13 was definitely his idea... Mick wanted to smoke joints like everyone else, but he didn't like the taste of tobacco, so it was suggested that he might skin up using menthols instead.
They lost touch when hubby married wife number 1, just before the clash made it big.

That canvas was on Lazinc up until the site was updated, I think it was about the same price.

Yep, it was £1750 on Lazinc but that could have been plus VAT

£3500 grand for Bomb Middle England , makes the one I bought from Laz seem cheap now. Just got it back from the framers yesterday

I have been looking at those BME and Have a nice day at Laz inc. But am a bit puzzled, the signatures and dates are much later than the original issue of the print. Is this artist prooof run just a contrived edition. Seems strange that there are no artist proof editions for the other prints and yet two of the scarcest and best prints now have an extra run of 31 ap signed copies (although signed much later than the orginal issue of the print). Confusing.

Banksy Links, by monochrome on May 31, 2006 20:28:38 GMT 1, I think you may have a right to think that.
I heard that what POW (or PYMCA) have at the end of the sales, ie. spares are passed over to the Artist as Proofs. They can be either destroyed or kept aside.
I always imagined the first runs to be 'artist proofs' ie. full of printing errors but not worthy of the bin.
You could be right to think it is contrived, but I do think it's a little worrying and almost a licence to print money by certain parties. I am a keen Banksy collector and keep buying because I like most stuff that is released, however I was always miffed when they brought out a second 'limited edition' of Girl With Balloon spread over 2 canvases - it seemed to be a printing press for quick cash of a popular image. I hope the latest price hike at Laz isn't in any way connected.

The unsigned Queen Vic is a new addition to Lazinc & I have read somehwere, maybe on here, that the earlier prints didn't all sell out.
