well done mate - it's a nightmare giving up but it does free up quite a lot of money to buy stuff like the latest prints.

Is that the picture of the product? if so - I'm confused - is it the darts? the jacket? or a coatstand that looks like a dart?

What's your proudest non art achievement?, by a4mnt on Sept 28, 2007 16:07:29 GMT 1, Marshman +1 mate. I'll PM you.
Another +1 to danvnuk when i can, your pad rocks!
Andy'77 - snap! I forgot that I'd been played by John Peel (and Judge Jules). I think JP played 3 of my tunes. I didn't hear him play all of them, but a mate said he stopped his car and screamed down the phone that one of my tracks was playing. Also got played on Kiss by Graham Gold.
Mc Nuts - does this pic look familiar?
My greatest achievements include being the European Amateur Car Audio champion, Rome 1994 and also UK Amateur League and National Finals (Earls Court Live 95) Winner. Front cover of Car Hi Fi Mag, as well as contributing writer. Various feature articles and pics in mags like Max Power! And learnt lots about proper hi fi sound. Also spent 2 years bent double in the boot of my car, rebuilding my system every weekend. Serious stuff.
Another of the good moments, that I can remember, would be getting bear hugged by Derrick May while Jeff Mills played a few feet away. I played at a festival in Adelaide on the same bill as these two legends, then got to hang with Derrick May for 2 hours for the journey back to the city. To anyone who doesn't know, he is one of the founding fathers of Detroit techno and pretty much of house music itself. Got to ask him how they kick started dance music and was just in awe ;D So a legend in my eyes. Even got the t-shirt to prove it, ha ha.

;D ;D
I'm glad someone understands how totally excited I was. I told him I loved his mixing at the end of his set and he literally just bear hugged me and picked me up off my feet. I'm sure he broke a rib!!
Got really excited thinking about it and decided to take a pic of the t-shirt (I really do have one!). Its sad, I know, but I'm happy to be on a t-shirt with such legends. ;D ;D
I'm on the third line...just below the legends!!! errr, and above Ed Rush & Optical....wtf?

What's your proudest non art achievement?, by a4mnt on Sept 28, 2007 16:38:18 GMT 1, damn my defining moment in all honesty pretty much happened just over a year ago...my little brother was attacked by 15 or so little hoodie c*cksuckers after a 5 aside football game, although I have no memory of it I was later told I got him out of there pretty sharpish...got a nice scar from a knuckle duster to my eye and bruised ribs, back of the head, back from someone with some piping (told of this later, when I was playing guess the big bruise!)..there u go a serious answer for once from me....
Carlito, you wanna be bouncer at the Christmas party?

It's actually misspelt as Rhythim is Rhythim for some reason. I'm very envious of you meeting Derrick May.... the first time I went clubbing properly he arrived in the UK late & got a cab from London to Leeds to play for half an hour! Underworld were also playing live for one of the first times... Rez absolutely blew my mind.
It's interesting if you listen to Strings of Life, it's got no bassline. Very unusual for a dance track.
Jeff Mills is the best DJ i've ever seen.... though somehow I don't imagine him & Derrick being a barrel of laughs to be around? They've got quite a dour reputation... although my opinion of Derrick changed quite a lot after watching a really interesting Detroit Techno documentary i've got..... High Tech Soul - www.plexifilm.com/title.php?id=27
There's a trailer here with Derrick's 'Nude Photo' playing at the start. Another classic. TUNE!!
I'm trying to put together a Detroit Techno mix at the moment, but it's tough... there's so many tunes I can't leave out!

Trying to think of a top 10 tracks off the top of my head.
Model 500 - No UFOs Model 500 - The Chase Aztec Mystic - Knights of the Jaguar 69 (Carl Craig) - 4 Jazz Funk Greats Paperclip People (Carl Craig) - Throw Underground Resistance - Jupiter Jazz Rhythim is Rhythim - Strings of Life Drexciya - Wavejumper Choice (Laurent Garnier) - Acid Eiffel Inner City - Good Life
I'm sure i've missed plenty of classics, but if I went to a club & heard those I think i'd probably explode.
