What's your proudest non art achievement?, by manchestermike on Sept 28, 2007 22:36:06 GMT 1, Was Emmerson a suit? Heard Born Slippy for the first time in a while today.....that tune is arranged so well......I love it OK - who's getting nostalgic? I miss the clubbing days, still love the tunes, just can't stand the days after feeling. Miss the people and the fun though. Yeah, it gives you so much fun and happiness but it claws it all back over the next week, things have changed since those days, married with kids and professional job so clubbing is off the agenda. Nostaglgic? Yeah!!
Listening to Sasha's essential mix the other week means I can't wait, Vath in November, Sasha in December - it'll kill me though - need 3 months in between now!
Too many good nights coming up though ;D

What's your proudest non art achievement?, by michaelscott on Sept 28, 2007 22:43:29 GMT 1, Its interesting how there are quite a few music related people on here...it seems a natural progression in a way. And vica verca i'm sure. But what little i know about this art 'scene' and as they say, ignorance is bliss, is how i felt about music before i became quite involved and that involvement took the sheen off it all. I'm with you, on the involvement, taking the sheen off. It just about ruined it all for me. But after several long years ... I'm once again, happier than a pig-in-mudd, when the musics on.

What's your proudest non art achievement?, by headphonesex on Sept 28, 2007 22:47:17 GMT 1, Plastikman is great, seen Ritchie Hawtin several times. My fave tunes ever are DJ Misjah and DJ Tim 'Access' and Awex, 'It's Our Future' Gonna Have to dig them out tonight!!!!!
Access was a real anthem at the orbit. I used to go most weeks....
As for the other posts... yeah Fat Cat, Tribal Gathering, Lost (which is still going)... good techno is hard to beat. It's strange though that it's going through quite a renaissance now with this minimal stuff, but it does absolutely nothing for me.

Have to say that the best times before that were at the Sonar festival.. used to go every year... awesome.

What's your proudest non art achievement?, by goffy on Sept 28, 2007 23:29:05 GMT 1, I spent the the evening of my wedding at Voodoo in Liverpool, then a party back at mine, great night. I use to go to Voodoo every week before left for Saudi and London. Spent a lot of time in The End as well when I lived in Bloomsbury.

Used to have hair down to my arse LOL. Looked like grizzly adams.

I probably saw you at Sonar, or at least your work, what year was it, 2003 ?

What's your proudest non art achievement?, by dumpsuk on Sept 29, 2007 11:48:29 GMT 1, Nu see the cover above... Oblivion with bells. I am hoping to start work on a series of limited edition posters/prints for the underworld tour with a couple of others. We want to personalise them/make them all different (a la faile) on the night. Maybe some hand drawn/coloured elements. Maybe I could take the portable screenprint machine i bought in tokyo last time i was there, make some screens and print them for people there and then. Only A4 tho. Bigman, that avatar i found on the night of the 'Laz' debacle, seemed to sum up the way i was feeling that evening.

ha ha.. we'll have to get you over for numusic/nuart.. it'd be a nice combination, straight down the middle.. been looking to unify the music and art a little more than just straight up VJ sets.. worked with a few crews and a bit disappointed to be honest.. though Coldcut did some great stuff at nu this year with quite a simple set up. I kept the V4 for messing around with.
Did you do the animation for the Crocodile single I saw ?

What's your proudest non art achievement?, by dumpsuk on Sept 29, 2007 12:11:50 GMT 1, Nu, the music/art thing always works well. Arthrob here in London do very well, doing just that. I've not even seen the animation for the Crocodile single. I guess it was John Warwicker, lives in Melbourne now although very much involved still - (miss him) .

What's your proudest non art achievement?, by johnas on Sept 29, 2007 21:46:31 GMT 1, nice to see some techno heads on here.... spent many a good night at The Complex, The End, Strawberry Sundae and Club UK. But by far the best was Checkpoint Charlie in Reading.... Billy nasty, darren emmerson, carl cox, Mr C were all regulars. Spent every Thursday night there for many years.
as for my greatest achievement, well that's easy. Kicking a 10 year hard drug habit and finally realising my dream of being my own boss. 2 years down the line now and seeing how proud my family & friends are of me, makes me proud that I changed my life around.
