TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by Deleted on Aug 12, 2011 12:54:47 GMT 1, It struck me last night that the riots are just the most visible manifestation of a wave of crime and corruption that has infested our society from top to bottom... although most of it at the top. we have had our MP's lying their pants of cheating and manipulating expenses. claiming for mortgages they have paid off. Swapping homes on a yearly basis so that they can cheat their way to more benefits. We have just had a couple of police chief inspectors arrested for corruption. It appears large swathes of the police have been taking illegal bribes off corrupt journalists. Some of the riches people around (piers morgan et al) have been overseeing massive criminal activities, on an industrial scale, as they have hacked into peoples private messages, paid police, and lied. We have the Murdocks who are apparently are committing perjury left right and centre. The bankers who got us into this mess, should have been put in prison years ago. The point I am making is everyone in authority seems to be corrupt Even police commissioners are taking illegal bribes. Im not justifying anything... but it seems the poorest in society have been taking their examples from some of the richest in society. They are all criminals, but generally with very few exceptions it is the poorest that will fill the prisons.
Well said.

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by des77 on Aug 12, 2011 12:57:46 GMT 1, ''Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry, raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money, ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services.
Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper."

Don't forget these thieving MP's systematically stole vast sums of money.
Eric Illsley - £30,000 - served four months in an open prison Jim Devine - £8000 - served four months in an open prison David Chaytor - £20,000 - served six months in an open prison
Six months for some stupid kid for £5's worth of water is completely and utterly out of proportion.

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by simonf on Aug 12, 2011 17:47:50 GMT 1,
Thats about right. Interesting article here about who the real criminals are....
blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/peteroborne/100100708/the-moral-decay-of-our-society-is-as-bad-at-the-top-as-the-bottom/[/quote]
that is a brilliant article... I wish I'd written it!
The lawlessness really has come down from the top. Gerald Kaufman while bleating about rioters makes sure he fiddles his expenses to include an £8.5k television courtesy of the taxpayer. An uneducated kid breaks the law to get a £100 tv he goes to prison for 6 months. kaufman will no doubt end up in the house of lords.
Welcome to British Justice an anagram of hypocrisy (give or take a few letters)

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by fingerz on Aug 12, 2011 17:56:56 GMT 1, what-a mistake-a to make-a
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has admitted it may have mistakenly given "misleading" information to journalists in the wake of the Mark Duggan shooting, it has emerged. The body admitted that it may have inadvertently led media organisations to believe that Mr Duggan, who was shot dead in Tottenham last Thursday, fired at police first. The 29-year-old was travelling in a minicab when police apparently stopped the vehicle and the incident occurred. Mr Duggan's death sparked riots in the centre of Tottenham over the weekend, which spread to other areas of London and then cities across England earlier this week.

I think you misunderstand. No one is saying rioters go around with blue or red rosettes on proclaiming political slogans.
I think the point being made is that the solution to urban unrest is to do with how society is structured. If you have a government that is totally corrupt, a prime minister who is appointing known criminals as advisors. A police force that is being arrested. A media empire based on criminal activity and lying... We even very nearly had a London Mayor a few years ago called Geoffrey Arxcher who only got stopped from office by a prison sentence for perjury relating to his prostitute payments
The gap between rich and poor has got bigger year on year under 18 years of a Labour government. Shamefully i might add.
The example from that government was if you want to get your own way, violence is the best way to do it.Hence our involvement in so many totally pointless wars.
I am not defending rioters, any more that i am defending lying MP's corrupt police officers or criminal journalist. They are all scum. the only difference is most of the rioters have got away with a lot less money than the criminal MPs... most of whom have got away scott free.
We have a greed led consumer society, with the biggest gap between rich and poor we have ever had. and 26% unemployment. And every social investment we have ever made from youth centres to libraries are closing.
it doesn't take a genius to work out what is going on here

If he wants to wave a loaded gun around thinking he's the big man, then after repeated requests to put the gun down from over 10 armed police officers, point it....He deseverved everything he got. second prize ;D
Did this joking gangbanger jerk think he was going to win ?

your missing the point I think The fact the police lie to make themselves look good (do you remember the guy in stockell. The police said he jumped the barriers, ran from the police... looked suspicious with a bulky jacket so they shot him.
all lies of course. He was a Brazilian student sitting on a train, on the way to college
The police lied to cover up their tracks.
In the latest instance of lying the police said he shot first. He didn't. The police got hit by their own dum dum bullets.
you obviously don't care about the police lying.
Other people do care about them making things up to cover their assse.
that is essentially the difference of opinion - some people want the police to tell the truth when they kill someone. you genuinely don't care. I think that's the real point

The news innit ? there were a lot of eye witness reports that spoke of the event, it was a siege/ stand off. 2 shots were fired.
turns out both by one officer, one fatal shot to the mugs chest, the other richochets his elbow into a second officers radio..
this is where the confusion lay.

Other people do care about them making things up to cover their assse. that is essentially the difference of opinion - some people want the police to tell the truth when they kill someone. you genuinely don't care. I think that's the real point What job do you do Simon ?

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by des77 on Aug 12, 2011 18:37:52 GMT 1, I meant freeview with his knowledge of what happened at the crime scene The news innit ? there were a lot of eye witness reports that spoke of the event, it was a siege/ stand off. 2 shots were fired. turns out both by one officer, one fatal shot to the mugs chest, the other richochets his elbow into a second officers radio.. this is where the confusion lay.
Fair play, its just the first reports said 3 shots and the first came from the 'gunman' . The fact that de Menezes was 100% guilty of being a bomber until witnesses stepped into court with real facts, means im unlikely to believe anything about the Tottenham shooting just yet.

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by simonf on Aug 12, 2011 18:43:32 GMT 1, your missing the point I think The fact the police lie to make themselves look good (do you remember the guy in stockell. The police said he jumped the barriers, ran from the police... looked suspicious with a bulky jacket so they shot him. all lies of course. but these are highly trained police officers who have had years of specialist training... and yet they count two shots?
they think two is three?
This seems extreemely improbable,
maybe they just decided to lie.
That seems more probable than - ten highly trained specialist firearms officers between them don't know how to count two gunshots.

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by curiousgeorge on Aug 12, 2011 19:20:39 GMT 1, Don't want to state the obvious but the bedrock of life is solid parenting,to me this is the biggest factor in the mess. The underclass is not a new thing by any stretch of the imagination
I spent the first 13 years of my life living way below the breadline.I saved for 8 months to buy Subway Art!.Entered my teens and started grafting on building sites at weekends and school holidays for £5 a day.I was no angel like all my mates but never in a month of Sundays would we have done stuff like this.No pity party just pointing out plenty have known proper poverty and lived within the law
Lots of things need to be done to fix the country but without willing parents any money spent on fixing things will be money wasted.Anyone remember what life was like before Sunday trading??
A million articles could be written stating a million different reasons why this happened, I'm pretty sure none of them would state the main reason is lack of parenting
Btw I'm perfectly balanced underclass/working class with a chip on both shoulders
Edit:I'm becoming an old grumpy git! Went to do a job today at a friends flat, they had guests over showing off a newborn boy.Room was thick with cigarette smoke (and i smoke myself), I couldn't help but say shouldn't you be outside smoking, his mum said "Oh he's alright he gets plenty of fresh air" 10 days old.....
