Matting Prints, by Street Art Fan on Jun 13, 2016 22:40:43 GMT 1, About to get a few prints framed. One is a large Bast that I'm thinking about getting matted. I've heard that there are issues over time with uneven fading and am wondering if anyone has first hand experience with this? Should I swear off matting for good if this is the outcome?

: BAST - WOOD ROT / LA BENZO, by Street Art Fan on May 28, 2016 12:35:40 GMT 1, Might be worth contacting him via Allouche to see if he'd be open to doing a one-off commission based on the same image? AFR1KA might know how feasible something like this sounds.

Bast revealed, by Street Art Fan on May 26, 2016 18:30:22 GMT 1, I heard from a good source that bast will be revealing himself in a bid to get wider art world recognition. Also rumoured to be having an entire booth dedicated to his work at art Basel Miami under his real name - would love to see this happen.. So the thinking then is that pseudonyms make it harder to gain recognition in the broader contemporary art scene? Personally, I like the mystery that surrounds Bast. Is Dain really his brother? Does he work as a baggage handler? Does he really fall asleep with pizza on his chest? I understand why John Tsombikos stopped using Borf - he was caught red-handed and faced serious jail time. I'm a huge Bast fan and wish him all the success in the world, but I don't see how revealing his true identity at this point boosts his popularity.

Anyone else getting bored by urban art?, by Street Art Fan on May 11, 2016 14:24:05 GMT 1, Not sure if it's dead, but it's become boring. The thrilling excitement that surrounded the scene just a few short years go (captured beautifully in the intro to Exit Through The Gift Shop) has morphed into a dull, repetitious waiting game for print releases and sanctioned murals whose only reason for being is to signal that a neighborhood is about to be gentrified. I realize that this is the way of all youth movements - they can't stay subversive forever. But still! I hoped that we could hold onto this wild, crazy, vital thing of ours just a little bit longer before it became so mainstream.

done, by Street Art Fan on Mar 17, 2016 22:10:28 GMT 1, Not that they need it, but ill add another vote of confidence for this member and Bast's work in general. I bought another Bast OG off AFR1KA recently and couldn't be more pleased with the transaction and the work itself. There is so much intriguing complexity in Bast's work, I find myself staring at it on a daily basis. +1. AFR1KA is a real mensch. Buy with confidence.
Would love to see the Bast OG you bought recently, Howard Johnson.

Mr. Brainwash And OBAMA, by Street Art Fan on Mar 12, 2016 9:17:07 GMT 1, The reason I brought this to the forum is to get a full picture of both murals. Anyone from DC please post a pic of what they look like. Thanks!! Raise your hand if you give a flying __ck what a Mr Brainwash / Obama wall looks like That's a rude response. Especially when you consider the spirit of the OP.
Don't get me wrong - I am not an MBW fan. But the mean-spirited cynicism his art inspires is getting tiresome.

Fake Bast pieces on Ebay, by Street Art Fan on Mar 10, 2016 10:21:53 GMT 1, Yes, I emailed Bast direct and both pieces are fake.
So he does read his emails.....
I remember the one and only time he answered an inquiry I submitted via his website (one of too many to count). I had asked about the availability of a funny A-Rod themed one-off on his Instagram feed. He replied something to the effect of "sorry man, better luck next time". I couldn't believe he wrote back. I was on the moon for days.

Advice on what/who to collect, by Street Art Fan on Mar 6, 2016 15:43:27 GMT 1, A few thoughts...
First, to amplify @ling 's advice from above, I would be a little leery seeking collecting advice on an art forum from people you don't really know. Although most members are ethical, honest, and straight-shooting, like anywhere else a less-than-honorable few have secret agendas and promote certain artists solely out of personal financial interest.
That said, I would simply recommend reading broadly (Juxtapoz, Vandalog, Hyperallergic, StreetArtNews, Brooklyn Street Art, Arrested Motion, anything by Peter Bengtsen and met ) and taking risks.
