BANKSY AUCTION HOUSE ADVICE, by Love Is In The Air on Jan 21, 2021 15:08:54 GMT 1, Hey Reader,
There are some threads on this but possibly not easy to find as they die away quite quickly. I contributed to this one which was mainly about commission. In short it seemed to be worth shopping around.
urbanartassociation.com/thread/166217/selling-banksys-auction-house
There was another thread more on which auction house to use too, I think in the last 12 months there have been much better results at a couple of auction houses compared to other so possibly best to go with them even if their fees are a little higher. You could also ask for a reserve to ensure no print sells super cheap.
urbanartassociation.com/thread/169437/preferred-auction-house-selling-banksy
The other thing sometimes mentioned is the option to consign and sell with with a gallery so you have a more accurate idea of what you will get financially. There are threads on this too and I think someone had dealt with Hang Up and had a good experience selling high value items. They do sell a lot of Banksy and are knowledgable. The Banksy Value website also sells prints and is a good tool for people selling in terms of recent prices

Good luck with it all, a nice position to be in!

Harland Miller โข Hell, It's Only Forever, by Love Is In The Air on Dec 20, 2020 9:57:02 GMT 1, It's possible Riotcops meant the smaller Manifold version, in which case I would think 15k/16k + Vat would be about right for final tier, but don't know for sure.

Harland Miller โข Hell, It's Only Forever, by Love Is In The Air on Dec 17, 2020 13:33:46 GMT 1, Not sure Robo I just know someone who was offered one last week and they were told if they didn't want it there was no issue as they were v oversubscribed for the print. That said once the prices rise a lot of people are less keen to get involved and purchases tend to slow down....so was bit of a guess to say final tier!

Congrats to Sundowner on his purchase....am told smaller version is knockout too but I think close to final tier pricing now.

Tracey Emin ๐ฌ๐ง New Release โข Exhibition News โข For Sale, by Love Is In The Air on Dec 3, 2020 16:30:26 GMT 1, Did anyone really pay 12K for one of these? They're good but they're not worth 12K - not by a long way. No, with the 20% discount code that everyone has from the mailout they were basically sold out for ยฃ9600 top tier by my reckoning. Still a lot but not an insane amount for an Emin in a small edition of 50.

Tracey Emin ๐ฌ๐ง New Release โข Exhibition News โข For Sale, by Love Is In The Air on Dec 1, 2020 19:39:37 GMT 1, Personally I think they are a mixed bag. I loved one of them and then quite liked a few others. Would be nice to be able to think about a purchase and maybe consider if three would work together on one wall......but in reality no time to ponder and consider unless you have deep pockets. Need to buy v quick or it all ends in tiers, so to speak. Pretty sure most of these will sell out, small edition size of 50, v personal portraits and lots of her exhibitions on at the moment. Perfect time for this kind of launch IMHO.

Nice Photography Collector's Editions books with print, by Love Is In The Air on Nov 26, 2020 17:34:22 GMT 1, I received a gift today from a friend as a thank you for an art print I got for her. It was a wonderful little book called 'When We Were Young' and came housed in a box with a lovely photo which I will frame up.
Anyway I went online and the company Hoxton Mini Press does a big range of these Limited Edition books, with themes like Hackney, Sunday Football, Miami Beach etc and all come with a photo print and the quality of the box, print etc makes them great value IMHO from about ยฃ50 upwards. Much better quality than a lot of tatt I buy for more money anyway and so I thought I would spread the word
www.hoxtonminipress.com/collections/collectors-editions
I also found a promo code for 20% off which is PISS OFF CORONA
I don't work for them but looks like they are a small business and I was hugely impressed with the book and print I received which would have cost about ยฃ60 all in so thought it was worth sharing. Cheers

Futura ๐บ๐ธ Leonard Hilton McGurr โข New York Graffiti Artist, by Love Is In The Air on Nov 22, 2020 8:47:04 GMT 1, He has posted a message now on his instagram which clearly puts any blame on Rizzoli for confusion.
On the plus side he is also "handpainting" or spraying on these clamshell tags in person.....most prints he makes he wouldn't be physically involved in the screenprints and would just sign and number afterwards, so I still think for $300 its pretty cool, but I'm no expert on his pricing.

Yayoi Kusama ๐ฏ๐ต Pumpkins โข Show News โข Art For Sale, by Love Is In The Air on Nov 10, 2020 10:47:13 GMT 1, If any Kusama fans in and around London are still looking for these PM me. Looks like I can get a case of six from Veuve and I would like to get some bottles for Xmas gifts. I would be happy to let a couple of go if members don't mind paying RRP and then splitting postage cost with me as will save me few quid.
On a side note, if anyone is thinking of cracking this open at Christmas, I am told it will taste good but will be a lot better in 5 years or more. Cheers

Advice for a clueless owner please!, by Love Is In The Air on Oct 26, 2020 23:08:33 GMT 1, I recommend you post the names of the prints you own. Be sure to not post the edition numbers. The Banksy Value website that another member posted is a good resource, but it may not accurately reflect the value of your prints due to a lack of auction results or other reasons. Yes this is a good point, don't think there is any harm you naming the prints you own here but NOT the numbers! If they are rare prints doing this will lead to you getting dozens of messages/offers too!

Advice for a clueless owner please!, by Love Is In The Air on Oct 26, 2020 22:56:15 GMT 1, Hi Sadie, in terms of recent sale prices at auction to start you off, this website is a pretty good indicator:
www.banksy-value.com/index.php
There are quite a few threads on here about auction sales versus private sales versus consigning prints to a gallery to sell the prints for you(whilst taking commission). I will let other more experienced people advise you on this and no doubt you will also get messages from people here offering to buy your prints now!
Whatever Banksy prints you have, if some are signed and in good condition, you can expect a nice surprise in terms of what they are now worth.
Good luck with the sales!

Sold thanks UAA, by Love Is In The Air on Oct 16, 2020 17:21:51 GMT 1, Thanks for all the debate around a car parking ticket AND the row between two people I have never met and who weren't interested in buying anything, a classic UAA selling thread!
Just to say I had few enquiries on the Box Set but no one has committed so I'll take ยฃ1000 if someone can purchase this weekend. Ideally meet up in London somewhere to hand over and also to answer the common question YES it has a receipt from the hotel with it.
Have a great weekend everyone

David Shrigley New Edition Launching Thursday 15th October, by Love Is In The Air on Oct 16, 2020 8:46:45 GMT 1, I don't like tiered pricing but I suspect galleries who do it think it taps into the relatively modern phenomenon of FOMO.
They hype the print a week or so before with teases of the image and fans of the artist get excited and we all speculate about the print. Then it is released and goes on sale the same time we see the image for the first time and you have to make a snap judgement to buy or not. If you are undecided and the price starts to rise, some fans will then get caught up in the moment and perhaps buy it because has reaching a price point that still seems OK to justify the purchase. Finally the price rises further and in the case of yesterday CE even said at one point on instagram it was "almost sold out". This makes perhaps some art investors and some fans think it is now or never in terms of owning this print.....most people on her would disagree of course and buy on the secondary market for less, but not everyone is as obsessed as us. To some perhaps an extra ยฃ1-2000 is not a big deal either.
The hype and the tiers worked brilliantly for CE yesterday and they sold out a print which I think is quite nice, but nowhere near Shrigely's best work, in a couple of hours. I don't like it but when the process works for them as well as yesterday things are unlikely to change. If they had sold this print at say ยฃ2500 flat for 125 copies would it have sold out yesterday?

Sold thanks UAA, by Love Is In The Air on Oct 15, 2020 13:49:08 GMT 1, "Original owner provided me with a letter confirming my purchase was obtained by him in person and a photocopy of the Croydon car park used on October 12 last year was also provided and will be included in the sale." Oh you sweet summer child Parking tickets I thought had little relevance but a photocopy ? There is enough information and pictures on the internet / forum to compare genuine items of the paper and screened print to confirm People buying blindly because of a parking ticket could easily buy a fake The original owner got several of these prints when he was down in Croydon and understandably wanted to keep the original ticket himself but was good enough to make me up a certificate of sorts showing relevant details. I am 100% confident this is a genuine GDP Rat but anyone interested will of course be allowed to examine the print in as much detail as they like.
